I’m cooking up a batch tomorrow. I will try adding rye for the first time.

Greetings all! Having a few Goose Island IPAs with my pizza tonight but will be bottling up some 14% barley wine ale in the next day or so. Looking forward to those!

Bottling up a robust porter while brewing a Scottish on Sunday. I always invite friends over to help, so I will smoke up some pulled pork to snack on while we work.

A friend gave us elderberry juice & grape juice. They are now fermenting. The grape juice is being done port-style. The last batch of port we made was fabulous - as good as any store-bought port I’ve ever tasted. I hope this turns out as well, as it’s a MUCH bigger batch. :-)

Have a bunch of Hops clones doing quite well. Connected with a local FR Brewery from this posting that we get on Friday and will be giving him some of my Hops plants/clones. My Cascade are already producing cones and my Chinook is right behind. Cascade plant bines are at least 25' long.

Bottled a smoked Scottish ale this morning. It was only supposed to be about 5 percent alcohol but looks like it came out to almost 8. Sampled a little that was left over after I finished bottling and it tasted great. Looking forward to what it will taste like in a couple weeks.

Thanks for the ping. I am rebuilding my kitchen and wonder if any freepers know how to tap home brew from a home brew kegs. Are there kegs you can age your beer in and then tap and serve? I know there are a lot of keggerators but they’re for regular store bought kegs.

Anyone know? I will appreciate it. I want to put a tap on my new countertop and maybe a small refrigerator underneath!

You want Cornealious or “Corny” kegs.

Plan on spending 50 - 100 bucks on them.

Most of the major homebrewing supply houses have them.

They use universal ball lock fittings that you can get for 5 bucks apiece.

Feel free to ask any other questions.

Cheers,

Thanks, I can’t wait to make beer again. I will search on those kegs and figure it out. Only 1 more question...if you mount a beer tap on your kitchen countertop and brings forth fresh brew, will it increase the value of the house? E!

Well, it would certainly make ME want to pay more :0)

Don’t forget that you will need a CO2 tank and a regulator also.

Buy the regulator when you get the Cornys and just pay a deposit on the tank locally. It’s cheaper that way.

I assume you have a fridge to put it in right? A standard kitchen fridge will comfortably hold 3 of them. Variety !!!!!

Cheers,

How rare (or common) is Texas hop(s)?
I was tromping through some land near the Colorado in Smithville & saw several large bushes growing wild.
