Last Week I attended and filmed the 2014 Cold Fusion IAP Lectures at MIT for ColdfusionNow.org.

I am also putting together a video sumamry about these lectures which I will be posting on my AlienScientist YouTube Channel as well as ColdFusionNow.org. I will describe in very brief detail some of the things they went over. Stay tuned for my video for more!

Some Key points on Cold Fusion from the IAP Course:
1. The MIT and CalTech Cold Fusion replications did NOT get their loading high enough which is why they did not see excess heat results in their replication experiments which unfairly destroyed Cold Fusion's scientific reputation.
2. Deuterium Loading levels and the metalurgy of the Palladium Cathodes have a lot to do with the stability of the phonon modes which are believed to harbor the reaction. The research that has been done at MIT over the past decade or so indicates that the Cold fusion Nuclear Reactions take place on the surafe of the cathodes and can be stimulated using lasers and infra-red radiant heaters. There are a variety of the factors that have been identified which both increase and kill the Cold Fusion reaction, these are well documented but not well understood.
3. There are lots of refined techniques in preparing the Cathodes so they will reach the proper loading and acitvation levels withot cracking, oxidizing, or deteriorating, which have now been mastered and are being used to develoop nanomaterial dry cold fusion cells which are pre-loaded with Deuterium that has been prepared in such a way that it minimized Deuterium loss prevents leeching, and maintains loading of the metal over time through proprietary NANOR technology. (This is Mitchell Swartz's PHUSOR and NANOR technologies) Mastering the Volmer-Taffel Regime and using pelletized palladium suspended in Zirconium Oxide like chocolate chips inside cookie dough.
4. There are currently no good models which account for the phenomena being described and the best Model Hagelstein has come up with requires the 24Mev gammas expected from typical D+D->He4 Fusion Reactions to be divided up 109 times and dispersed through Phonon modes. He has run into a lot of problems trying to fit the Cold Fusion data to a working model or theory that is consistent with Nuclear Physics and Condensed Matter Physics.

“I learned that the latest NANOR devices are nickel-based and use no expensive palladium. However, they are preloaded with deuterium, not hydrogen (heavy water, which contains deuterium, is worth several thousands dollar per liter). At low input (a few dozen milliwatts) these NANORs show an energy gain of about 27x, but they can be driven at a higher input power (1 watt) at which the gain drops to about 3x. They have a bell-shaped gain curve, of which he calls the peak “optimal operating point” (OOP). My observation is that since the gain is higher at low input, if we wanted the same gain with a higher output power there would have to be more active material / bigger NANOR devices. The ones shown only weight about 50 milligrams.”

Dr. Swartz says he doesn’t expect to see acceptance of this technology during his lifetime. He is the leading expert in this field so I guess that means we will not see anything in the near future even though Rossi says he will deliver home systems early 2014.
