Climate fanatics are entitled to their climate scientists, and foolish beliefs. I believe the guys who say humans could burn up the remaining fossil fuels on earth, and it wouldn’t raise the average temperature more than around 1.5 degrees. Big whoop, and for that modern civilization must crawl to a stop for lack of dependable and abundant energy. Let Branson suck on his rotten Chinese eggs.
Branson seems to lack understanding of what the word “data” means. Opinion is not data, beliefs are not data, and if a high percentage of people believe in Jinns and witchcraft, which is the case in Saudi Arabia among other places, is that supporting data too? If Mr. Branson is so concerned about the effects of a carbon cycle which keeps his skinny a** animated then he should do the right thing and remove himself from tat system. And for argument sake he may consider that opinion of mine as a data point too.
I have not seen any other major companies declare that if you do not agree with their “religion”, they would just as soon you not invest in their companies. It documents a level of commitment to their belief that in my opinion is disturbing.
This is right up their with governors declaring conservatives don’t have a place in their state.
You are dealing with a mindset that is consistent with jack boots and gas chambers.
I recently bought my first Windows laptop in years. I prefer the Mac OS but I actually like Win 8. I just use it for web stuff however and spend most of my time on the desktop side. So I’m not saying that other companies haven’t been doing the same, just that Apple gets a pass ‘cause they “care” so much. And they’re geniuses.
I used to defend Apple but only as a viable OS. And I found cult-like behavior on both sides, but much like the Dems vs Repubs, Apple is the darling right now so everyone fawns.
Limbaugh is another story. They won’t ever run ads on his show, but I guarantee, he gets plenty of perks. These old conservatives who can find nothing wrong with an entity as long as it has the letters INC after their name are relics.
They’ve told us for decades that “BIG BUSINESS” was sacrosanct even as more and more businesses were putting their money behind the Dems. Something wrong when you defend a company for years as they pour chemicals by the ton into the air and water only to find out that they gave all their cash to the Democrats and sent all their jobs overseas.
More recently, as in within the past 3 generations. .....4 out of 5 docs recommended non-filter Camels.
Consensus never equals good science.
But that's OK because Innovation.
The most telling part of his statement is that he flat out states that a poll of scholars is compelling data.
Why isn’t the climate data itself compelling, Mr. Branson?
“Microsofts position on climate change remains unchanged. Microsoft believes climate change is a serious issue that demands immediate, worldwide attention and we are acting accordingly. We are pursuing strategies and taking actions that are consistent with a strong commitment to reducing our own impact as well as the impact of our products. In addition, Microsoft has adopted a broad policy statement on climate change that expresses support for government action to create market-based mechanisms to address climate change.”
So where is the repudiation of deniers?
I only see Apple and Branson saying that if you are a denier, (modern version of heretic) they don’t want your business.
At least Branson didn’t mumble his way through the statement.
Not hard at all. Much of their corporate wealth comes directly from the US government, and the US economy, even though they pay the multinational game and say they can operate in the US but not pay US taxes.
So the way to punish them is to “level the playing field”.
No more taxpayer money to them for “the sweetness of their smiles”. If they want to sell things to the USG, let them compete fairly with others. With the provision that “you do business in the US, you pay US taxes off your US profits.”
Nothing unfair in that at all, but if it was proposed, such scoundrels would squeal like stuck pigs.
The next way to punish them is by either outlawing or regulating “gambling” investment markets in the US, or at least strip them of any government underwriting of their shady deals. If they gamble and lose $50 trillion, then it is up to them to make it up to their creditors. If they can’t, of course, then they are bankrupt.
The mistake the Democrats intentionally make is to suggest that their taxes should be raised to punish them. That has never worked and never can work, because they only pay bare minimum taxes right now.
So the spigot has to be turned off of the money flowing to them in the first place, especially if it is unfair market advantage money.
Best he ground that rocket to mars or wherever the heck he’s planning on going. On the other hand, maybe he should launch it and stay in orbit :)
