I read all the Hobit books and saw the movies. I thought they all were very good.
I am almost done with The Fellowship of the Ring.
The Hobbit movies take a lot of liberites adding things that were not in the book.
But I still like the movie a lot. Legolas is like a Super-Solider.
The book is much better.
Watching the second Hobbit movie was like watching a video game on the big screen.
And don’t get me started on Gandalf willingly walking into the
Necromancer’s trap....
We know at the end of the Hobbit novel that te necromancer is driven from Mirkwood, but little details were offered.
Yes, the Necromancer is driven from Mirkwood, nowhere is Gandalf captured and restrained (and if he were, The Enemy would almost certainly have taken Narya from him).
Besides, per Fellowship, Gandalf could not have encountered the Necromancer in such a way because they were not aware of Sauron’s *secret* activities as he regathered his former strength. In a “face to face” meeting Gandalf would recognize Sauron.
I’ll step off my soapbox, now.
I haven’t seen any of the LOTR movies but I love the music by Howard Shore. How good are the movies?
They are excellent. So far the “Hobbit” movies are OK, but they’re worth seeing.
The graphics and special effects are better than my imagination was while reading the books.. Seriously. Very kool!
Are there several different versions of the movie? I see highlights of scenes I did not see in the actual movie. Plus, there seems to be edits in he movie that seem out of context.
They cut out about a 1/4 of the book and still needed 3 hours (bluray version). I thought the movie was interesting, but Frodo is 50 at the time, he they had a young actor play Frodo.
There were theatrical releases of each movie and then on DVD and Blu-ray there were extended editions that added in a few extra scenes. I didn’t much care for the extended editions, but some of the Tolkien nerds out there loved them.
