CALLAHAN, Fla. A Florida mom is fuming after her 4-year-old son was kicked out of preschool because of something she posted to her own Facebook page.
Ashley Habat doesnt think her 4-year-old son should be punished for what she wrote.
Habat said her son, Will, was late for school on picture day at his private Christian preschool.

“According to Habat, she went on Facebook and vented her frustrations.
She said she never thought the school would ever see her post.
They couldnt see it. It was private to my friends only.”
Too stupid to be on FB....she TAGGED the school in her post
1) If you don't like the school, fear not -- you no longer have to put up with their shenanigans.
2) Are your standards too high? I'm going to say "No" to that, because you seem trashy.
3) Are people in education ignorant? Well ... someone is ignorant ... but I won't name names.
Wrong melanin level, otherwise he has the intellectual capability to have been a Democratic politician, even POTUS.
This school has a monthly payment system so she’s out some money but not the full year tuition. Kind of douche-y that they don’t give refunds (it’s in the handbook she was supposed to read) but it is listed there.
Tagging someone or something on Facebook, as she apparently did, notifies the tag-ee that he/she/it has been tagged. So basically her thoughts went to the whole world.
As someone who has been a student and parent who sends kids to private school, I can tell you that the kid was going to get kicked out for her antics. And, based on her post, I’m guessing this isn’t her first run-in with the school.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Looks like it's going to be a busy year for the arth list.
It's been an active beginning of the school year.
IMO, the punishment in this case was excessive for the "crime."
She should take her kid out and run to a pre-school run by adults.
Christians not acting in the spirit of Christ. I’m shocked I tell you.
Most private schools have NDA type agreements or Honor Codes that preclude public discord towards the school and staff. I bet she signed one. Now she bas broken it and they bounced her.
“End of story.”
Well, true, but mom got her some face time on FOX. The
private pre-school fired the 4 yr old because mom went
social network with her gripes. They didn’t like the
bad pub and had the right to toss the kid. But, if
avoiding bad PR was their motive then they might have
made it worse on themselves. What could make them
think mom was just going to go away? My money is on
the pre-school developing some new ways of handling
irate parents.
So she doesn’t read the notes from the school that are sent home with the kid (which other parents obviously did), and she TAGS the school in her Facebook rant.
There’s more to this story. This gal is most likely major pain in the neck. Odds are that she caused a scene at the school over her own mistake.
It’s a private school. Shedding her nonsense is worth more to them than the tuition she’s paying.
Words have meaning.
And if she tagged the school in the post, she is an idiot.
And take a picture with your phone.
Why do people think their kids will never get over little disappointments? This why kids are all messed up today.
Give her a refund.
What’s the problem here? She publicly insults the school on her feed, she tags them on the post in a way that can easily be construed as taunting them, and then she’s surprised when they tell her to take her kid somewhere else? They’re a private entity - they can choose who schools there and who doesn’t. End of story.
Or in her case the one of ,"Never insult the alligator until you are out of the swamp" applies.
“Customer feedback, how can I help you?”
“My child said that ...”
“Is this a complaint or praise? Because our policy clearly states that complaints will get you booted from our service”
“What?”
“It’s the new wave, every airline, phone and cable company will soon have the same policy, it’s like a miracle!”
How long does it take to get a 4-year old ready for picture day? A week is not enough notice? Give him a bath a put a clean shirt on him.
Agreed
They can’t read your mind or post for you. If you consider what you say and say what you mean, you’ll never have to worry about the repercussions. Just like real life, if you spout out anything that comes into your head - especially when angry - there’s a chance it’ll come back and bite you.
