Impending CIA Interrogation Report Creates Fear of Violence

U.S. embassies around the world are bracing for a potentially explosive report about to be released that details what the CIA did to terror suspects in the days after the Sept. 11 terror attacks, and the fear is that its release could threaten American lives.

The report, due to be released Tuesday by the Senate, is described as shocking in its very graphic descriptions of secret interrogations, including some details that have never been heard before.

All U.S. facilities around the world are being urged to review security and brace for the reaction, with concern particularly high in areas where there are hot spots, in the Middle East and North Africa.

The CIA and the Bush administration have already faced heavy criticism for post 9/11 interrogation techniques at so-called "black sites" across the world.

The use of waterboarding stopped many years ago, but, according to those who have seen this report, ugly new details about those procedures will be revealed, where prisoners were sexually demeaned, and CIA interrogators were urged to continue, even after concluding that no more information could be gleaned.

The Muslim world has erupted many times before when the U.S. and the West have been accused of religious and cultural slights. The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said that if this report is released, groups like ISIS will take full advantage.

Really? Muslims will NOT chop off our heads if we never “tortured?” Really?

Did Al Queda or Isis sign the Treaties?

I would set the terrorists on fire then ask them questions.
Nearly 3,000 people were murdered and over 11,000 wounded and multiple building fell on 9/11 and a war that continues to this day that has cost many more their lives.
I do not care what methods were used to make them scream.

We follow Geneva Hague even if the opposing side doesn’t.

IMHO, we went through this with Abu Ghiraib which wasn’t necessarily CIA but really, why do we need to go through this again?

“We follow Geneva Hague even if the opposing side doesn’t.”

Actually we don’t. The Conventions state quite clearly that terrorists can be summarily shot in the field. We need to start doing that.

No interrogations, no trips to the beach, just a drum head Courts Martial and then up against a wall.

If they don’t qualify as combatants what you say might be right.

Go read what the Conventions say for yourself. These people are unlawful combatants and as such can be summarily executed on the battlefield. And they should be.

Just because they do, doesn’t mean it it right and we should do it as well. Our strength is not just in might, but in moral rightness, in not losing our humanity. If we stoop to torture, we are no better than the Islamic vermin we battle.

that could hurt our national interest.
Which is precisely why most Democrats want it released

Along with the fact that they want to divert us from what the government does to citizens...

Hogwash. We risk more by not fighting back then we do by fighting dirty. These moral handcuffs embolden our enemies and give them a false narrative to hide behind. There’s no clean way to fight a war, and the vermin set the bar awfully low.
