Apple’s updates are free unlike Microsoft.
STOP “UPGRADING” US AND LET US ALONE, WITH AN OS WE LIKE!!!!!
I will be sticking to Windows 7 until the kinks get worked out and Windows 10 has wide acceptance. Microsoft unfortunately has a bad history of introducing the latest greatest variation of Windows that turned out to be duds. Remember Windows ME, Windows Vista and now Windows 8?
I am far from a Microsoft fan (very very far), but my Windows 7 machine at work is not bad at all.
And my company (which is very tech savvy) has chosen NOT to upgrade.
‘Twould seem that a prudent move for MS would be to keep tuning up a good OS, not change things.
Apple has fallen into the same improvement trap...even as an Apple fanboy, I think little of their latest upgrades.
Given how much of a pain in a the arse it was to upgrade a virgin 8.0 device to 8.1 I think I’ll keep my device at 7, just like I did when that dog 8 was unleashed on the world.

How many programs and peripherals will Win10 kill?
IE 10 messes up the browser I use for FR, because the IE-based browser has some add-ons that do not work with IE 10 or later.
Win7 seemed to add primarily more memory usability over XP. What does Win10 offer that Win7 doesn’t?

When I went from XP to Win7, I lost a laser printer, as 64-bit drivers were never made for it. I also lost several programs that do no have Win7 equivalents. I did manage to finagle a few other programs to get them to work under Win7, but I doubt they would work under later Windows editions.

I quit updating Win7, Firefox, Palemoon, Adobe Flash and some others because upgrades for one created conflicts in others.
Upgrades should make life better, but many times they create more problems than they fix or create new problems.
If it is as good as Windows8, I will definitely upgrade. I really like the footprint/security of Windows 8.
I will be keeping my XP systems as is ‘off the grid.’
The people who bash me for that don’t realize in the manufacturing world upgrades of an OS will require new machines. However, if anyone would like to buy me new CNCs, CMMs, plotters, and other machinery feel free to send me a check.
One interesting feature - those apps I used to drag down to the task bar for one-click access are now popping up in a sort of Metro-like panel off the Start button. I'm guessing in time that panel will get cluttered and need tending. Obviously that hasn't happened yet.
So far no driver issues, no obvious incompatibilities with fairly new peripherals. Whether that will support my friend's Spinwriter (remember those? Yes, he has one) is quite another issue. Sometimes you just gotta get with the times.
I WANT XP!
Reminds me to buy a backup copy of Windows 7 so I can live happily in my non-upgraded world.

I'm speculating that a full install will be 956 Gb and all the legacy '\System32' and GAC conflict nonsense will still be present.
Bloatvalanche. Zero reason to upgrade from Win7 unless someone can convince me otherwise.
