A man who posted anti-religious sentiments online has been arrested after three Muslim students were shot dead close to the University of North Carolina campus on Tuesday.

Craig Stephen Hicks, who describes himself as a vehement supporter of atheism, has been charged with three counts of murder after the trio were shot dead in Meadowmont around 5pm.

Dentistry student Deah Shaddy Barakat, 23, of Chapel Hill, his new wife Yusor Mohammad, 21, of Chapel Hill and her sister Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19, of Raleigh, all died.

Hicks, 46, of Chapel Hill, turned himself in 'without incident' and is currently being held in Durham County jaill. He is due to make a court appearance this morning.

Before the MSM can build its inevitable narrative that this was a Christian-on-Muslim act of violence, it turns out that the shooter is a militant atheist and hard core liberal.

Again the British press is doing the reporting that the American MSM won't.

Hard to know which side to root for in these situations.

Actually, it isn’t. The guy is a nut job. But you’re right - the SPIN on this one is going to be EPIC.

The American press will simply omit inconvenient parts and go about its narrative per usual.

There're still people going around saying 'hands up don't shoot'.

Let’s see how many lib media reports omit the little detail of this guy being an atheist. My guess is if all else fails that they’ll just turn it into anti gun propaganda.

Chris Plante at WMAL (Washington DC) is all over this story this morning. He was talking about a 9-page CNN report that only got around to mentioning Hicks’ atheism and Facebook “likes” for liberal media organizations and figures (such as the Huffington Post and Rachel Maddow) at the very end.

Record that info because it will probably disappear.

next time his name surfaces , he will be a bona fide member in good standing of the Tea Party, An officer in the NRA, and a voting member of the Southern Baptist Convention.

No, I would not say that at all. These were just three young Muslim students (one man and two women!) who senselessly got gunned down by a liberal nutcase. They weren't terrorists...they were going to Dentistry school.

“Well-known atheist Richard Dawkins also condemned the killings on Twitter. He said: ‘How could any decent person NOT condemn the vile murder of three young US Muslims in Chapel Hill?’”

Gee, Richard. What does an atheist consider “decent”, from what authority does he get that perspective, and why is that authority to be trusted?

The blame goes right to Barry Hussein Soetoro aka Obama for the way he is handling Islamic State and how he feels about Christians. I also blame all those low information people who voted for that him.

What did this nutcase do to "combat religious terrorism," exactly?
