That looks fake, and what was the flower pot made of?
Always wondered what bothered me about that video, and now I finally realized it. They didn’t even bother removing the price tag from the fake plant - all the other plants on the stairs have drip trays for water. Staged, but amusing none the less...
I fell for this, but I think you guys are right about this being staged. And if you read the comments, others are calling it fake too.
I’ve updated the keywords.
The first thing that cued me was his theatrical and faked harsh treatment of the cat.
The video must have been done by NBC’s crack truth telling staff.

I don’t like the stupid video, and I don’t like him, nor his abuse of the poor innocent kitteh.
the plant was “wired”..
Id guess he used a nylon trip wire across the step..which the cat could trip ..while being agile enough to avoid being tripped up by,,,
he wasn’t truly exhibiting any real malice toward the cat..as some amy have thought, it was rather exaggerated and actually quite playful
Total fake. And stupid too.
That was my impression; or someone else pulled a trip wire off camera, to make the pot fall down on the man’s head.
And Mr. Cat was probably lured to go up the stairs at the right moment, by the shaking of the treat bag (always works in our house, when we need to lock the kitties up in a room for some reason ;-)
And the man was obviously trying his best to act ‘mean’ to the cat.
I guess it’s just another one who wants his ‘five minutes’.
Far less offensive than many are...
