OAKLAND, Calif. -- Stephen Curry had 26 points and eight assists, and the Golden State Warriors held off LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers for a thrilling 108-100 overtime victory in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night.

Lebron James: The man who tried to put the "I" in Team.

I think that the Cavaliers are going to discover just how difficult it is to put together a championship team. Lebron scored over 40 points in game 1, yet the Cavs still couldn't win. If they can't win with Lebron scoring 40, they're not going to win the series.

Cleveland, with their "Paul Blart, Mall Coach", will simply prove to be no match for Golden State. Even without the injuries, I don't think it would matter.

Lebron James walked away from the Heat, and his supposed "brothers", as soon as the going got tough. I honestly don't see how you walk away from a team that has gone to the NBA Finals for four years straight. Lebron had a golden opportunity to build a dynasty in Miami, and instead he took his ball and went home.

No man should be bigger than the game, and if Lebron thinks he can replicate the Miami situation in Cleveland, I predict he is going to be sorely disappointed. It's just not that easy to build a dynasty, even with a player as great as Lebron.

Even Michael Jordan needed Pippin, Rodman, a great coach, a top notch organization and great chemistry in order to build his incredible legacy.

Lebron squandered that chance in Miami with Pat Riley, his friend Dwyane Wade, and the rest of that unselfish group of team players.

He thought he could take the clout that his 2 rings brought, return to an inferior organization, and just slap the same thing together in Cleveland.

Well, congratulations, Lebron. You're in the NBA Finals again. That and a couple of bucks will get you a cup of coffee. You're the greatest player since Michael Jordan, and you can probably take virtually any team you're on to the NBA Finals. But winning another championship in Cleveland is just not going to happen. And it shouldn't happen. Basketball is about great teams built on great players combined with great coaching, teammates, and chemistry.

I hope Lebron realizes his mistake after a couple more years of tantalizing failure in Cleveland.

An intelligent player who sees things clearly simply does not throw away the potential that existed to built a dynasty in Miami.

Golden State might not be the best organization around, but they are probably a good bit better than that Cleveland group, and they are a deep team as well.

That's going to be enough to beat Lebron James and the rest of the individuals that compose the Cavaliers "team".

Oh, by the way, have I mentioned that I live in South Florida and am a Heat fan?

I just wanted to clarify that, so that everyone can stand in awe of my total objectivity. ;-)

On a scale of one to ten, this ranks a negative 200 on the Richter scale. So what. The can has been opened.

Although I don't like much of anything about liberal San Francisco-Oakland (there are some FReepers there but they're in the minority), I'll be pulling for them over LeBron. What kind of ghetto name is that anyway? Were his parents(s) Chrysler fans?

I lived in the bay area 22 years, never did like the Warriors. But after watching LeBron during the national anthem, I decided: go Warriors

A “team” that only scores 2 points in the five minutes of an overtime game in the NBA finals will not win the championship.

LeBron must be union. He doesn’t work overtime.

He doesn’t work overtime.

Over time,as it goes by, will show that while he is a good player, he is not the basketball god everyone is making him out to be.

Without Irving, I don’t see the Cavs winning. LeBron got 44 last night and they still lost.

seems it takes more courage to leave a sure thing and take on new challenges so I'll say that about Lebron....also, he was very caring towards the girl BB player that had the brain tumor....

I'm not sure I like him....he does seem to be a one on one player, but there's worse...

I like Delly on the Cavs so if they win, I'll be happy for Delly...then again, Klay Thompson has a connection in my area and so if GW wins, I'll be happy too...

what did he do during the National Anthem?

He did nothing overt. It was more of a projection of an attitude that he was; bored or let's get going, I don't need to hear this cute kid singing....

Mind you, if I had heard that song played everyday of my life (almost) as he has I could feel the same way. But maybe he could fake it?

The Cavaliers didn’t play last night. LeBron James scored 44 points.
