He grabs her arm. She attempts to hit him. He punches her in the face.
Although the surveillance video was released Monday, the incident took place June 24, inside Yiannis nightclub in Tallahassee, Florida.
On June 25, the head football coach at FSU, Jimbo Fisher, announced Johnsons indefinite suspension for a violation of athletic department policy. Fisher later said that Johnson had been dismissed from the team, effective immediately.
The former freshman quarterback is also being charged with battery.
The woman in the video suffered bruising under her left eye, swelling to the left cheek and upper lip, and a small cut near the bridge of her nose, according to court documents.
The documents say the victim raised her arm to defend herself, and tried to strike Johnson to release his grip. She remained at the bar while Johnson left with others.

You not think he might have been goosing her..touching her without permission?
I'd say that would be a fair outcome. Look at how they were sitting. Her legs were next to his in a rather intimate situation. She shouldn't get away scot free.
No respct. No upbringing. Real men never strike women!!! Never.
It would be good to see the preceding minute of the tape. Why did he have a lock grip on her right arm? Why was he shoving her around before she tried to hit him with her left hand? Not compliant enough? Wouldn’t leave with him? She obviously does not want him around or touching her.
It looked like he bumped her while moving up to the bar. She raised a fist as words were exchanged, and she struck first.
Now men are so much better at violence that he needs to be sanctioned, but she needs to be recognized as the primary physical aggressor. He did attempt to restrain her from hitting him - taking a lesser approach - prior to the actual punching, and he shouldn’t have to put up with her physical attack, but his response was still excessive.
He had ahold of her wrist (and hair, because it got tangled up) because she’d already presented her fist as threat and made a move to punch. It was a defensive measure on his part. She initiated violence not once, but twice before being punched.
“It would be good to see the preceding minute of the tape. Why did he have a lock grip on her right arm?”
...because she turned around and raised a fist and was already trying to hit him, and he grabbed her wrist to stop that attempt.
“Why was he shoving her around before she tried to hit him with her left hand?”
Because he was trying to stop from being hit by her right hand.
” Not compliant enough? Wouldnt leave with him? She obviously does not want him around or touching her.”
She appeared to be frustrated because she was being restrained from her first attempt to strike at him.
You've got to be kidding...... A 6'1 200 lb. kid punching out a young female in "self defense" is an ok thing?
Not in my world bro......

Johnson assaulted her at which point she tries to defend herself.
Johnson grabs her right arm which is when she throws that left.
She’s not is good physical condition so it was quite a weak punch unlike Johnson’s.
