I see your point (and frustration), Hulka. I think the rules still apply with the EXCEPTION of liberal people. We raised our son NOT to hit women/girls.. told him that only lesser males act that way. He also holds doors for people (women and elderly). With respect to the woman you encountered... I feel sorry for you.. she sounds like a complete nut case. ALL of the women I know would have thanked you and appreciated your help.
Rode BART into work in San Francisco for a while. Got on far out before the rush hour filled the car.
As the train got closer to the city, I would get up and offer my seat to women who got on after all the seats were taken.
Without exception — was met with hostile glares.
So instead, I just stopped ever taking a seat and rode in standing the whole way.
No need to feel sorry. I have other examples I could refer to but won’t. These are tricky times. . .appears there are now no rules and/or conflicting rules. Sad times ahead.
