"A film called 'Truth' should be accurate," the iconic CBS news anchor said of director James Vanderbilts movie about his 2006 exit and the events leading to it.
Iconic CBS news anchor Dan Rather on Saturday praised the Robert Redford-starring Rathergate movie Truth for its accuracy and performances ahead of its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
"Naturally I was pleased, and pleasantly surprised. This film is very accurate. A film called Truth should be accurate," Rather told the Hollywood Reporter during a pre-screening party. James Vanderbilt's movie centers on Rather's 2006 exit from CBS after a 60 Minutes investigation two years earlier into U.S. President George W. Bushs alleged draft-dodging during the Vietnam war.
Rather praised the performances of Redford as the famed CBS newsman and Cate Blanchett as his CBS 60 Minutes producer Mary Mapes. "The acting is superior. I think it's an emotional film. Of course people will say I found it emotional because it's about me. But I say that as objectively as I can," he said.

Truth is a great title for this biopic AKA Pravda.
The net results was single sourcing from a whacko, simply because it fit their desired narrative.
But I say that as objectively as I can,” he said.......As objectively as you reported the news?
And it dares contain the word "Truth?????"
Hollywood, Robert Redford, Dan Rather? Three peas in a cesspool!
George Bush hasn’t been President for years past, lest we forget! Barack Hussein has been and is, and is means is! CBS canned Dan, now his mug has surfaced on a TV.com show that nobody watches!
Rather never appeared to understand that, to anyone with experience in desktop publishing, his “evidence” was a dead giveaway. His critics had him cold, and I mean cold. No question that his memos were faked; they didn’t even take the trouble to do a credible job of forgery.
To Proglodytes, like the Red Queen, words mean only what they wish them to, nothing more, nothing less.
Maybe they have a Jim-like character presented as Snidley Whiplash! Buckhead as a pajama-boy!
I’ll watch for that if I’m forced to see the movie. If it’s free on Amazon Prime I might watch it.
Thanks for giving me the opening to make a point parallel to yours. Namely, Robert Redford is the purest of the pure liberals. To paraphrase Chrus Rock on one of his hilarious statements “truth is Kryptonite to a Liberal”.
If Rather says it’s true and Redford says it’s true that means it ain’t!
Shoulda left off the “up” part.
Freepers know by now that it was Karl Rove who typed up the phony piece of paper to purposely obfuscate the problem of Bush being AWOL — while running against a vet for president?
Not sure what Laeta K and Vanderbilt wrote in Truth — I’m sure it’s slammed very left wing — but we were conned by Rove on that one.
It worked. After the Rathergate thing, no one cared about the truth of the matter... Bush’s military bona fides.
Seriously.
I wanted to post a picture of a maggot-invested wound...but I didn’t want to defame the maggots.
invested = infested
I can’t wait for the Redford docudrama on Mother Hillary!
I hear they are using the working title, “Charity”
Thanks Lonesome in Massachussets.
The correct spelling is Liar.
Du hast recht.
