Pseudonym mania? I’m guessing if Lloyd Keating is Ted Wallace, and Wallace is usually the name Ed Kirkeby went by, that this would somehow, circuitously, make this a “California Ramblers” item...?

This song was a bestseller in the early weeks of 1931 and was recorded by a number of acts including Nick Lucas. In 1977, I actually heard him perform live. He sang his 1929 hit “Tiptoe Through the Tulips.”

Pseudonym mania?

This tune was also recorded by the Havana Novelty Orchestra and the Jesters, which were probably also pseudonyms.

For years, Lucas told audiences he was still collecting royalties on “Tip-Toe Thru the Tulips.” Which was preposterous, since only the writers of a song collect royalties.

That cartoon also featured the songs “Get Happy” and “A Gay Caballero,” which were popular at the time.
