This video is one in a series of videos and websites which are being posted on FreeRepublic in the coming days in regard to nutritional health. In the beginning these videos were being posted as a rebuttal to an article and comments in another posted article on FreeRepublic remarking on obesity. Due to the strong interest in obesity and nutritional health as it relates to Type II Diabetes, the videos relating to Type II diabetes and how to reverse the progression of the disease are being moved forward among the other video topics in this series. Expect to see a mixture of videos regarding the role of carbohydrates in the diet and their relationship to nutritional health topics ranging from metabolic syndrome and Diabetes to dementia, Parkinson's Disease, Altzheimer's Disease, and more. The effects of standard government sponsored diets, health association diets, and alternative diets upon everyday nutrition, sports nutrition, and diabetic nutrition will be mixed in with videos focused on the use of various low carbohydrate and high fat (LCHF) diets, such as the ketogenic diets as a treatment for Type II Diabetes.

I am very interested in having more information about this type of diet. I think that we need more fat and protein, and less sugar and carbs.
” I think that we need more fat and protein, and less sugar and carbs.”
Note the physicians in these videos report the intake of protein needs to be limited to prevent the metabolism from using the protein in neoglycogenesis to produce glucose in the bloodstream instead of going into nutritional ketosis and using the ketones from the fats for fuel. For some obese males as one example the limits on protein may be somewhere in the range of around 63 grams to 75 grams of protein per day.
Isn’t this like the fifth time this has been posted?
Correction: where I wrote, “to prevent the metabolism from using the protein in neoglycogenesis,” I meant to say gluconeogenesis and not neoglycolgenesis.
“Isnât this like the fifth time this has been posted?”
No, this is the first time that Dr. Phinney’s three part presentation has been posted. In his videos he reports on his own personal experience as a medical physician, medical research professor (PhD) in academia, sports medicine researcher, and user of a ketogenic diet for a period of decades.
I swear these were posted last week.
No worries...
We have been LCHFing for almost 5 years now. Please add me to your ping list. Thank you.
