Was Titanic inquiry scuppered by the Freemasons?
The Telegraph ^ | 11/22/15 | John Bingham and Victoria Ward

The inquiry into the sinking of the Titanic may have been influenced by the Freemasons, new evidence suggests.

A secret archive containing the names of two million Freemasons have been made public for the first time which reveals extensive Masonic involvement in the controversial British investigation into the catastrophe.

It confirms that not only the judge who oversaw the British Wreck Commissioner’s inquiry into the disaster and leading investigators, but also even some of those who escaped censure were all Freemasons.

While a US Senate inquiry into the sinking savaged the White Star Line and singled out the British Board of Trade for blame for lax regulations which allowed the scandalously small number of lifeboats fitted on the ship, the UK investigation overseen by Lord Mersey avoided blaming the Board of Trade.

Lord Mersey himself - John Charles Bigham - was, the records show, a Freemason, initiated in 1881 at the Northern Bar Lodge in London.

Crucially, so too appears to have been the President of the Board of Trade Sydney Buxton, initiated at Limehouse in East London in 1888 where he was the local MP at the time.

Hey - if two million Freemasons each made a tray of ice cubes, they could make an iceberg pretty quick, I'm here to tell ya.

So, it's not as far-fetched as it seems...

This is the Correlation = Causation fallacy

Example: There is a direct correlation between rising rates of rape and rising ice-cream sales. One does not cause the other

Many men at that time were masons so you’d expect masons to be on the panel.

So yeah, lunacy

The Freemasons were a powerful force from the 18th century onwards. In the 1830s, suspicious of them was so great that an anti-Masonic Party was created. John Quincy Adams was their candidate four President. The Mexixan government was dominated from the start by Freemasons. Joel Poinetta, the US ambassador was a powerful connection. The Yorkish Rite included many important Englishmen. The Scottish Rite more important in the United States.

The Titanic met all established legal standards for safety at the time of its sinking. But it is true that those standards were out of date and wholly inadequate for ships of the time. Those standards were rewritten completely as result of the Titanic disaster.
