Wife uses Amazon Kindle tablets.
How old are your kids?
For the first few years I refrained from getting a tablet as I saw it as little more than an overpriced toy. But earlier this year, I bought my first tablet and it was one of the best purchases I ever made. Now when I’m commuting on the train, I can check emails, read a book or even go on Free Republic, which I now do on the train often. I found lots of great apps such as MyFitness Pal that tracks all my steps and other activity and adds the calories burned to what I can eat. It’s also now a remote control for my stereo and allows me to stream music to it. I can also use it for Netflix so when my wife is watching something lame on TV, I can plug in headphones and watch Sopranos without her complaining about all the swearing.
If it’s iPad they can message you on it.
just curious, what tablet cost 50 bucks?
The only technology I own is a telephone, a cell phone (paid by minutes), and a laptop.
I saw that those tablets are on sale today, which peaked my interest. The reviews say they’re not very good, though.
But, I know nothing about tablets. What’s the difference between a tablet and a laptop (other than that the tablet is touch-screen)?
I don’t text either. If anyone wants to talk to me, they can either email me, or call me on either my cell phone, or landline. My sons are in their 40’s. They either call, or email me. No texting for this old lady.
My older brother has a cell phone. If he doesn’t answer, his greeting says he does not listen to voice mail messages. WTH is that?
GET OFF MY LAWN!!!!!
I’ve been looking for a Tablet like this, but I need one that will work with Dial-Up....
I have several children in their 20s who do all these fancy electronic stuff. If they want to communicate with their father, they can just call. If not available, I will call back. old-fashioned, just the kind of boy I am.
Yeah, baby! I even own a dial phone from my Ma Bell days. In rural areas it works even when power goes down.
I despise the notion of people being able to call me at any time day or night, at home or gone. Don’t even mention people in the bathroom talking on their stinking phones . . .
Well happy texting.
Sounds like you’re having fun. Enjoy!
I have heard the el-cheapo tablets are not as secure as the brand-name more expensive ones. Apparently they have to leave stuff out or take short cuts to make them cheap.
Three things I love best, my cell phone, my Tahoe and my dogs!
MrD too of course!
