If I can’t make it clear through those descriptions, then I don’t know how else to make my point. This policy won’t sway Trump’s dedicated supporters; it is designed to turn away other potential supporters down the road (by marginalizing him as an anti-Muslim, anti-Mexican bigot). Once that is the common perception of Donald Trump, it will be unacceptable for people to advocate publicly for him. The same thing that has now effectively silenced a preacher from supporting him basically does the same thing for anyone who doesn’t want to face repercussions at their workplace (and even their neighborhood, depending on its demographics). Timid, beaten down Anglos don’t want to be dragged to HR because their Muslim & Mexican co-workers view their “Make America Great Again” caps as racial or religious provocation. They also don’t want their homes vandalized because those two groups view their Trump signs as right-wing extremism. Expect to see other groups added as his “victims”: women, blacks, etc.

On another thread I pointed out that for Hillary to win she needs to carry the four groups targeted by the Obama campaign to use against Romney: The non-white malcontents/perpetually aggrieved, the welfare class, young people (by stoking their envy, due to their diminished opportunities while charging them for previous generations Social Security, government pensions, etc.), and women. Basically, Romney was marginalized because he was an old rich white guy; Hillary is all but the last.

In desperation, they are simply burying any public displays of support for Trump; does that make sense?

Trump only has himself to blame for that by the clumsy way in which he shoots off his mouth. Don't whine and blame it on others. Trump may be great on some things because he is honest and blunt but there are also political consequences to pay for such a style. You can't have it both ways.
