Whenever they played her 'God Bless America' before the games instead of the National Anthem they kept winning. She had an almost perfect record. I think she was brought in to sing live in the finals. She was part of the team.

At the 29:30 mark Kate Smith sings live and they win the cup.
At the 47:00 mark they pummel the Soviet Red Army team and make them scamper off the ice like little girls.
I am so fortunate to be young in that era and experience the Broad Street Bullies and what they accomplished.
