She helped the Philadelphia Flyers win the Stanley Cup in the early 1970s.

Whenever they played her 'God Bless America' before the games instead of the National Anthem they kept winning. She had an almost perfect record. I think she was brought in to sing live in the finals. She was part of the team.

And now you know the rest of the story.

These didn't make it into her recorded version that was a hit in 1939 and 1940.

At the 29:30 mark Kate Smith sings live and they win the cup.

At the 47:00 mark they pummel the Soviet Red Army team and make them scamper off the ice like little girls.

I am so fortunate to be young in that era and experience the Broad Street Bullies and what they accomplished.
