A 43-year-old woman was found dead in an elevator in China after possibly being trapped for a month.
A maintenance crew was called to inspect a malfunctioning elevator in a residential building in the Gaoling district of Xi’an on Jan. 30, according to a local government statement.
The elevator had stopped between the 10th and 11th floors, so workers yelled from the 11th floor to see if anyone was inside instead of opening the doors to check. They did not hear an answer, and then cut off the power supply leaving the elevator stuck midway.
When they returned on March 1 to fix it — after the Lunar New Year holiday — they discovered the body.
The woman, who lived in the building, may have died more than 30 days ago.
According to neighbors, the woman had a history of mental illness and lived alone.
Local authorities said they had arrested two of the elevator maintenance crew and were investigating the companies responsible for the building’s management and elevator maintenance.
An autopsy ruled out the possibility of homicide.

Literally speaking she wasn’t trapped for 30 days. She died long before that.
Sad story.
I was trapped in an elevator once. I yelled, and somebody got the maintenance man, who got the door open. Couldn’t she have yelled? Weren’t there people living in the building?
According to "google" people can't live TOO much longer without water than three hours. So, she lasted ONLY about half a day, at most.
What is so sad is that no one missed her or cared enough to inquire about her.
This also may be just another Internet hoax.
Can you imagine how horrible a death this is?
How long was it before she realized that the sound of the power going was the sound of her impending and lingering doom?
How long before she understood that this dark, hot box would be the last thing she saw?
How long before she started to consume her own... to attempt to survive the ordeal?
I had read that her hands were mangled from attempting to pry open the doors.
Sometimes this world is overly cruel for no damn reason.
God Bless this unfortunate woman.

Pretty sure you can go without fluids for 3ish days maybe a bit more.. not a long time - but certainly not 3 hours..

Three hours? Sometimes I sleep longer than that, and when I wake up, I’m still alive.
Three days, not three hours without water.
3 hours without water *in a desert* most likely.
Without extreme heat/work you can survive around 3 days without water

I’d be screaming and pounding and yelling my fool head off. I got stuck on one once too and luckily I had my cell phone and called the super.
air: 3 minutes
water: 3 days
food: three weeks
Not sure if there is anything for three months. Sex?
I haven’t had any water since lunch - and its 6:3- PM - does that mean I’m dead?
