CHICAGO More people are leaving the Chicago area than any other major city in the United States.
According to census data released Thursday, the Chicago area lost more than 6,000 residents in 2015. That now puts the regions population at 9.5 million.
Chicagos metropolitan statistical area, defined by the U.S. Census Bureau, includes the city and suburbs and extends into Wisconsin and Indiana.
The Chicago regions decline extended to the state. In fact, Illinois was one of just seven states to see a population dip in 2015, and had the second-greatest decline rate last year after West Virginia, census data show. While the states population dropped by 7,391 people in 2014, the number more than tripled in 2015, to 22,194.

Obama said people need to pick a system that WORKS for them. Something in Chicago ain’t working and folks are moving out. I wonder if he knows that this is plain B.S when talking to youth in Argentina. It’s easy on the road to talk like an EXPERT, but the folks back HOME, that sent him to Washington are singing a different tune.
With their current mayor you’d think the gays would be moving there in droves.
The last person left in IL gets stuck with the bill.
The North Shore suburbs are still okay though.
Of course the cure is raising taxes and tighter gun control for law abiding citizens.
They are leaving to colonize the conservative states, taking their cue from islam.
But the cemeteries are banging!
Several years ago, a friend’s brother took a job in Chicago. He arrived Saturday for his Monday start date. He stopped for a red light and a car containing several black men pulled up beside him. The blacks raised guns and pointed them at him. When the light changed, he turned around and drove back home. Monday, he called in and said he wouldn’t be taking the job.
Chicago will be just like Detroit. It will just take longer. Unfortunately, those who move will take their Democratic voting nature with them and destroy new areas.
There was an article here recently, saying that over 100,000 blacks, or over 10% of the black population of Chicago, has moved out in recent years. And not just moved out of Chicago, but moved to other states.
Maybe off topic, but, in the era of the internet and constant communications available almost everywhere, will many other big cities see big population declines??
Is there any reason for people to be crammed into big cities, if they don’t need to live in a big city to do their jobs, which in many businesses and industries, are becoming increasingly decentralized??
I’ve seen some reports, maybe just anecdotal, that many would prefer to live in a small city or small town, as opposed to a big city.
Or to put another way, why put up with the rotten crime, the rotten taxes, the rotten weather of a Chicago, if you can move to a smaller safer, less expensive sunbelt community????
Exactly how we got the mess called "South Florida". Big city retired pensioners from government jobs enjoying that which has been unspoiled by they.
Chicago looks great...in your rear view mirror!
In twenty years Chicago will look like Detroit.
Have you seen your property tax bill?
Would rather keep the democrats contained, but as long as all the teens stay put
I hate to say it. But this is not really a story. Chicago as a city has been losing population 4 out of the past 5 decades. But as a metropolitan area of 9.5 million, losing 6,000 in a year is not really a big thing. It’s about the murder rate. In reality Chicago is treading water. While other rust belt cities have been actually losing more population.
Hey lefties, if you don't want to end up moving to a conservative hellhole (from Karl Marx's perspective) you had better vote in some Patriots. It used to be I would say Republicans but they are nothing but rank smegma).
My least favorite American city, and I have visited some real stink holes: New Orleans, Memphis, Omaha, Los Angeles, Miami and Atlanta to name a few; none compare with Chicago for bad weather, bad food, crummy roads, poverty, leftism and hopelessness...good job Barack and Hillary!
With their current mayor youd think the gays would be moving there in droves.
Well, duh. The article is talking about people.
My bad.
Soon, the gang-bangers are going to complain, “There aint no one left to shoot!”
