I wonder if those easily offended snowflakes currently residing on our nation's college campuses realize what folks their age were doing some 65 years ago.

My dad’s introduction to the Japanese was when a Kamikazi struck the top of the the Maryland’s #3 main gun turret off Okinawa.

He was manning an anti-aircraft gun emplacement at the base of that turret at the time.

I was born in 1955… 10 very short years after this. My father served in the Pacific on an LST. It’s funny, growing up World War II seemed a distant memory… I had no concept of time.

I flew on RC 135’s in the 70s.My two daughters both serve in United States Marine Corps. They’re both majors and lifers.

What brave man these men were. How terrible for our country that we have lost so very much.

I’m unsure this morning if the tears in my eyes are due to the sacrifice of these men… Or where our country is.

Perhaps both.
