So far, it seems pretty fast. I don’t see any way to set bookmarks, of which I have a lot. Nor do I see a way to start the browser with my favorite startup sites in their tabs. Perhaps it will remember them when I close the browser.

Another one that is new and has a lot of great features is Vivaldi. I have tried it and I like it a lot.

That’s interesting. Safari plays well with FR on my iPhone 5c.

I tried it on my iMac. It didn’t work very well so I stopped using it. I’ll wait for a few more upgrades and test it again.

Why doesn’t anyone do single column, text wrapping, variable size font anymore?

All the websites I maintain do what you suggest, as does Free Republic. But sadly, nearly all websites nowadays look like they were designed by people whose only skill is in designing fixed-format wall posters. The original purpose of HTML was to share information between people with very different hardware and even handicaps like poor vision. Nearly all modern web developers have forgotten this. I think one of the problems is that nowadays anyone who knows how to use a word processor thinks they can be a web developer; and things like portability to different viewing devices, accessibility, etc. have become lost arts.

I have to use an outdated Russian version of opera just to read FR on my iPhone.

Yep. The last time I shopped for a smart phone, none of the sales people for any of them could show me anything with a browser that would reformat websites to fit the screen. They were all like index-card-sized PDF readers. I suggested to one salesman (Android) that we try downloading "Opera Mini" and that worked.

'BLATANTLY ILLEGAL': 17 newspapers slam ex-Mozilla CEO's new ad-blocking browser

I went to view the link to that article in IE, and it froze! When I viewed it in Brave, it worked just fine. Proof enough for me. How ironic!

You are bolder than I. I haven't dared to view anything on the internet with IE in several years.

Thanks. I’ve heard they were a good choice. I’m more than willing to donate the money. Took the laptop on vacation, went to play a movie, and bupkiss.

The one thing I have noticed is that the JavaScript support seems to mimic Chrome’s.
From another source: "Eich and his new company built the browser on Chromium, the open source browser from Google on which Chrome is built."

It'll play pretty much anything as is. I had to download a plugin to play stuff h 265 encoded but that might not be necessary any more.

I have been having flash and shockwave problems for several weeks on multiple computers. Even my computers at work, which are managed by others are all crashing websites heavy with flash/shockwave. I keep waiting for things to catch up, but it all seems to be getting worse. I am hoping it is just a phase.

Pretty blatant theft, blocking a website’s advertising and substituting your own?

Yeah, absolutely not fair use and I’m assuming the company was hopeful (and still may be) that some papers and websites will join in voluntarily, but I’d expect an update coming in the not so distant future that will strip out this functionality unless the website enabled it.

LOL .. couldn't have said it better myself.
The latest fad is for single page sites with big picture landing pages, "hidden/disappearing" (stupidly programmed) menu systems and links to anchored sections that offer no way to navigate anywhere else on the site.
These sites much be generated by SW programs since I also note the CSS files sometime contain over 6000 lines of code - and the entire website only contains 3-4 sections. Absurd to say the least.

Update!...

Support had me rename the folder "C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\brave" and try again.

This time I closed firefox and opera before running it. It installed successfully and I'm posting this update using Brave.

I’ve been playing with the Brave Browser for several weeks. It’s very, very fast. Doesn’t do everything I want and I mostly stick with Firefox, but I’d like Brave to get to the point that I can use it as my primary browser.

There’s two things that I find inconvenient. There’s no email function so that I can easily send a page or a link. And when I backspace into a previous window I don’t get what I’m looking for.

I just installed it. It doesn’t appear to have affected Firefox at all. bookmarks and cookies are still working in Firefox. I’m sure they would be sued if they disabled Firefox in anyway.

I don’t think it imported anything from firefox. I see an import bookmarks from HTML export option.
