German Holocaust memorials and research centers are concerned about how players are able to catch Pokemon right at sites meant to honor those murdered by the Nazis.
Pokemon Go has only been available in Germany as of sometime before noon on Wednesday and already its causing controversy.
The Foundation Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe told The Local that the Holocaust memorial in Berlin has been reported as a site where people could find and catch Pokemon creatures through the augmented reality game.
This is a memorial space for the six million Jews who were murdered and it is inappropriate for this kind of game, said foundation spokeswoman Sarah Friedrich, adding that she hoped the company would remove the memorial as a possible location.

Auschwitz Memorial Says Playing ‘Pokemon Go’ Not Allowed

It boggles the mind to think that people need to be told that playing Pokemon Go on these sites is inappropriate.
It’s crass.
But isnt it just stuff placed randomly? I’m not sure the game really cares where they are placed, but likely a future release will allow for places to “opt out”, or be placed on a white list.
When I went to Auschwitz last year with my family, I told them not to bring any cameras or cellphones. Taking selfies there is very inappropriate.
(Yes, I'm ashamed of myself for this one...) ;)
Waiting for some to be put in a few mosques.
Geez...how disrespectful.
“Waiting for some to be put in a few mosques.”
Is there one called Pikapig?
Entertainment for nitwits - some oblivious idiot will die from a fall or by a dump truck and I will shake my head.
Your phone decides how far these Fools Go for Pokemon Go

Why should a place have to do that? I say a good old-fashioned shotgun with rock salt will make it clear you ain’t gonna catch ‘em here.
Already wrecks happening and some idiot walked into a lake while he was streaming.
My son in HS takes a summer program at the local community college. Some Pokemon go guy asked if my son had seen Picachu. My son quipped that since it was hot outside that this guy should check the lunchroom cause Picachu was there drinking a Diet Pepsi. This Pokemon go has gotten out of hand, and this incident amplifies that.
Yesterday the same about the Holocaust Museum in D.C. and Arlington Cemetery.... WTH is a Pokemon anyway?
I’ve heard that these little buggers are popping up in people’s houses.
Somebody is going to get shot before it’s all over with.
Owners of locations that don’t want these Pokemorons on their property should simply get a cell signal jammer...set up a simple remote on/off button and turn it on. If anyone comes snooping, simply shut it off.
I never even heard of this thing a week ago.
What happens when Target allows Pokemon to use the dressing room of their choice?

They Pikachu.
Yes. A person here at work (who is a nauseating liberal, don’t get me started) was talking about her kids who are about 18 and 19? playing this Pokémon, and the daughter was going out by herself at 11:30 last night to track down one of the avatars or whatever they are called, and she laughed like it was funny. Then was talking about how some people are getting mad about trespassers, following the avatars onto private property, and defended that it was “just kids having fun”. Fun until someone gets shot, because of trespassing at the wrong place and time, IMHO.
