THE Republican Party is really trying to sell us on the rock n roll theme of this years convention...
(Cleveland) It is also the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which is on point with an exhibit, Louder Than Words: Rock, Power and Politics, about the intersection of rock and politics...
Max Espinosa, the exhibits curator, admitted that the biggest challenge of putting it together was reconciling the fact that many of the featured musicians dont like the Republican Partys agenda. Rock and roll is a lefty medium, he said...
...a Frank Zappa quote: Rock music was never written for, or performed for, conservative tastes.
It doesnt really jibe with what I think of as the standard Republican Party platform, Mr. Pisano said of the exhibit. But what does jibe with the standard Republican Party platform here?...
...There arent enough right-leaning rockers to fill out the playlist...

Yeah, most Rick Bands wouldn;t want Trump playing their music.
My personal favorite quote from Zappa ‘goes a little something like this’ :
“The United States is a nation of laws: badly written and randomly enforced.”
Frank Zappa
Most musicians have the morals of an ally-cat and the brains of a reptile. Who cares? As long as we stay within the law (for royalty payments) I say use whatever we want.
[[Reconciling the fact that most rock musicians don’t like the Republican agenda]]
Geez, I wonder why the sluts and druggies don’t like the Republicans?
“Frank Zappa quote: Rock music was never written for, or performed for, conservative tastes.”
Sorry Frank. If it’s really great Rock and Roll it’s not a matter of taste, it’s f-ing primal.
I think there are more conservative rockers than conservative actors.
Music and Conservative values have a LOT in common.
FREEDOM! Freedom of expression. Freedom to listen to whatever kind of music you like. Freedom to play what you want (yes - even rap).
Plus add in the Capitalism of it all - putting out a product that people will pay money for. And hopefully enjoying doing it. (Funny how many of these liberal rock and rollers get so upset over the free distribution of their music.)
Zappa said the highlight of his career was when he fell off a stage once...great musician, little else.
They soon forget that it was Algores wife who was all upset about music lyrics.
And that was over the music of Prince, before the really vile cRAP music came on the scene.
Post #9 ~ Zappa said the highlight of his career was when he fell off a stage once...great musician, little else. ~
Strongly disagree. He was MUCH else! I won’t make a list; you should look it up. You will be pleasantly surprised.
One more quote from Zappa :
Rock journalism is people who can’t write interviewing people who can’t talk for people who can’t read. HA!!
Frank Zappa, quoted in Linda Botts, “Loose Talk” (1980)
Nothing but love for him...
Post #11: Yes, I agree...I’ve seen his interviews on YouTube, etc. and he was very well spoken and a musical genius...even testified before Congress (I think)...Zoot Allures to you, my friend.

Yes! He indeed did testify before Congress. (also on youtube) and it was non-stop hilarity! he took Tipper Gore and all those critters to school!
It was such a one-sided victory in Zappa’s intellectual war against political stupidity, you will love it...
Zoot Allures right back at ‘ya...
oops! Overpost!
The NYT proves itself as incompetent....again.
Long before it was Cleveland Rocks, it was Cleveland(’s River) Burns.
Long before it was Cleveland(’s River) Burns, it was Cleveland S*cks!
Guess they never read my “Seven Events That Made America” where I debunk the notion that rock was all that left. Some was, some musicians were, some weren’t.
