pre-season is a joke.
Anyone paying for pre-season is brain dead.
NCAA is big time, big money football, too, and they don’t see any reason for any scrimmage games against opponents at all.
Then don’t go.
I gave up the NFL and other professional sports long ago. A bunch of spoiled brats getting paid millions of $ for playing a game. It was fun when I was 8 years old, but I am a grown-up now and I spend my time and hard-earned money on grown-up things.
It’s bread and circuses to make you take your eye off the important things in life.
And now that the NFL is caving in to every SJW non-issue there is - even more reason to Just Say No.
Colleges don’t cut players.
The NFL has a bigger problem. It (and the less popular NHL) is the major sport with the most patriotic fan base. If it lets its games become a showcase for overpaid anti-American thugs, it will eventually turn off its base. You’re not going to have 100,000 people standing at attention while a jet squadron does a fly-by if clods like Kaepernick won’t get off their ass during the national anthem.
It’s bad enough that some of the announcers have tried to inject their lefty views on gun control into their football commentary. Most people treat the commentators like background Muzak. But, if the main act becomes insulting to them, it will have bigger repercussions. I know that multiple Kaepernicks would turn me off.
IMHO, of course.
It’s a business.
Our emotional investment as fans is how they make the money. We are the fools, and they owe us nothing if we don’t have the ability to say, “NO” to what they do to us.
You have to buy the preseason to own season tickets. If we don’t like it, then we shouldn’t buy the season tickets.
FTR I am not a big NFL guy. My game is baseball. Football is just an off season time filler for me when I don’t have anything better to do. To the extent I pay any attention at all it’s only after the World Series.
Stop giving them your money until they decide what nation they are the National Football League of.
Anyone paying for pre-season is brain dead.”
Anyone that Pays Anything to the National Felon League for ANY reason is brain dead.
for the record,I quit watching ALL Pro Sports many many years ago(over 20) when they gave up on Decency and Morality
They do, but not in the same way.
They officially and unofficially redshirt, delay, etc.
Additionally, they don’t have the manpower team size limit that NFL teams do.
That said, pre-season is a joke.
I always think it’s funny, that the NFL decided to call these “pre-season” games, whereas in the past, they were called “exhibition games”.
As if a “pre-season” game has more importance than an “exhibition” game.
The should be boycotted even by NFL fans like myself over the anti-police, anti-national anthem, and anti-flag themes they are advocating.
Boycott TV, radio, game attendance, merchandise, etc.
I will. You already are.
No one is making folks buy the tickets. Charge what the market will bear.
On second thought, since most of the rich owners are liberals, let’s demand social justice and seat set asides for low income fans - say reserve 10% of the seats for those in Title 8 housing, and only charge them a dollar a game.
Since the stadiums are built with taxpayer money, there shouldn’t be any Constitutional issue with this, and only an owner that was a homophobic racist would oppose it.
Whatever I want to watch is likely on my TV and the bathroom is just down the hall..........and there's beer in the fridge.
For all of his faults, Jerry Jones is no liberal.
Grasp the concept: i.e. “money is the God of this world.”
No one is forced to go. Watch it on TV
It’s not about attending games, they could probably get by with zero attendance at actual games. It’s TV contract money and the huge number of casual fans that watch NFL as a social/cultural activity. Did the NFL get more popular or less popular after fruity celebration dances and chest pounding became common place? Why or why not? Same thing about rule changes to promote scoring. That makes me think that the average casual fan probably doesn’t care about the anthem too much and in any case won’t change their viewing habits over it.
Look around at general popular culture. It isn’t really surprising the NFL dwarfs all other pro US sports combined.
