I want to know more about this neighbor who was making threats. Sounds like some hidden cams need to go up.

We have a feral colony of kitties here in our East Tennessee town...most people are fine with them, and even bring their children by to visit with them. HOWEVER...the Board of Education is headquartered right across the street, and the teachers/educrats bitch constantly about the cats...just to bitch. ('That cat got up on my Corvette.') The cat lovers are well-organized, though, and no one bothers them.

I hate teachers.

Can’t they have a vet autopsy the dead cats to see if there’s any evidence of them being poisoned?

Feral cats are feral; if these people want pets they should adopt them and take them home. I have personally adopted two feral cats, for the record, and just two weeks ago found two feral kittens on my property who have successfully been adopted and litter trained by my brother.

I tried my best to find a home for them, because if they had stayed, I would have eventually killed them. It is only a matter of time before they start fighting with my pets, attacking my ducks, killing friendly critters, or otherwise being disruptive. In addition, they carry diseases that I don't want my pets or my family exposed to. For those equating killing feral cats to a serial killer of humans-- you are mentally ill. It is entirely possible to love animals and people and still exterminate pests without a second thought. I shoot coyotes and wild dogs on sight too, but absolutely love my dogs like my own family.

A formerly feral kitten is sitting right next to my keyboard as I type this. I can't begin to tell you how much joy she brings to my life, and how glad I am that she is no longer scavenging garbage cans and whatever to find food. When I got her in April, she was 8 months old and only weighed 4 lbs., had ear mites, conjunctivitis and worms. Now at 1 year of age, she is a sleek 7.3 lbs., with silky fur where once was sparse brillo.

They should autopsy the cats to find out the agent used to kill them, then set up game cameras focused on the area where the feral cats are. Let them catch this piece of sick excrement and then force whatever poison they used on the cats down their own throat, in mass quantities. Those poor kitties likely had a miserable death at the hands of a human, after they put their trust in humans for their food. To betray that precious trust and subject them to pain and death is unforgivable.

Could be someone who likes birds or other native wildlife. Feral cats kill lots of small animals. Even if they are well fed.

But, in the past two weeks, the cats have stopped coming around to their food bowls.

Feral cats + free food = more feral cats.

Spay, neuter and euthanize.

Satan worshippers, witches... offering up "blood sacrifices" and satanic rituals. In this case they are specifically targeting cats.

As someone posted earlier: "Animals first and then people".

It is a sign of wicked days in which we live. People here on FR are smart enough to "connect the dots" and come up with the probable reason and motive for why this is taking place, however: Notice how innocuous the title of the article is purposely worded in order to not disturb the masses or give them a clue as to why this is likely happening:

"Foul Play Suspected As Cats Dissappear in Arlington".

Oh, so the birds are getting revenge on the cats.

I have been suspecting that here the past few days. I have had a beautiful stray cat visiting my backyard garden area nearly all summer. I have been feeding her several times a day. In fact it had come to the point that she would sit and wait for me. She would be there at 5am in the morning or earlier sometimes snoozing on one of the garden chairs...she’d stay all morning long until the heat of the day set in. Then she’d be back around 6pm...and I believe she stayed all night in the backyard. I had even set up several dens for her to use.

Just after Labor Day she didn’t come. Neither have the raccoons or opossum. I believe someone poisoned them likely using cat food as bait. We live on the edge of a park system and have critters all the time in the yards. Raccoons, opossums, fox, feral cats, displaced cats that get dumped, etc.

At this point I don’t know what to do, I am surprisingly upset and until a body is found ...well there’s not a lot to do. I have my suspicion who did it as they are citified renters and have complained all summer long about the raccoons living under the other neighbor’s deck. Someone complained to them about their dogs incessant barking when no one is home, ended up involving the police.

My gut instinct is he was or is leaving poison out for the critters.

This little gal was destined this week to be trapped and if domestic, which I believe she was, headed to the shelter for adoption.
