Seahawks players considering a 'big surprise' during anthem (barf alert)

The Seahawks' Cliff Avril and Doug Baldwin told reporters Wednesday that they're contemplating joining teammate Jeremy Lane and 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in their national anthem protest.

In fact, Seattle's Bobby Wagner says the team has been talking about some sort of group action before Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET game against the Dolphins at CenturyLink Field, the Seattle Times reported.

Although Wagner said he didn’t know if he would sit down during the anthem he said, “anything we want to do, it’s not going to be individual. It’s going to be a team thing. That’s what the world needs to see. The world needs to see people coming together versus being individuals.”

“Whatever we decide to do will be a big surprise,” Wagner said, though he wouldn’t say precisely what the team might do.

Exactly correct.

One of the few reasons I ever watch football is basically it’s always been non-political.

If they (or the media) want to destroy it, then make it political.

I’m lucky that I never really got the bug for any level football. But I tuned into a playoff game last year for the first time in a long while, I couldn’t believe how much the game had changed as far as penalties, glitz, and sportsmanship/showmanship.

It made me think that our culture perfectly fits this brand of NFL, no wonder it is so popular what with the fruity celebration and chest slapping displays. It was gross.

I don’t watch. I hope someone can post the official sponsors of the NFL. I will let at least some of them know why I won’t use their products.... Because the NFL applauds blatant disrespect of the flag.

I say let ‘em do whatever. Maybe it’s time all this is brought to a head.

There’s got to be just as many if not more players who are passionately pro-American and are sick of the BS.

Let’s have at it and see who is left standing.

Meanwhile American spectators will switch to college.

It’s the team’s culture (maybe a left-coast thing?) - you think anybody playing for Bill Belichek would try that?

“you think anybody playing for Bill Belichek would try that?”

Interesting point since Pete Carroll was the coach that preceded Bill Belichick. Carroll was not well thought of in New England but he seems to fit right in Seattle. Belichick’s father was a football coach for 34 years at the U.S. Naval Academy.

And all the fans should rise and walk out of the stadium if these highly-payed gladiators should choose to back the idiot Kaepernick by staying seated during the Star Spangled Banner.

If they were to do that, it would put an end to the whole thing quickly.

I’ll be very surprised if he does. If this is what these clowns want to pull, I’ve bought my last ticket, waved my last “12” banner and probably won’t watch them on TV, either. Pete Carroll is too easy going - he needs to crack the whip, come down had on these fools. Of course, Seattle is “Moscow on Puget Sound”, maybe it will fly. Not with me!

Players need to do some headhunting on these guys and their team-mates. Start by taking out Russell Wilson with a season ending injury.

If you kept reading the article, you would have found this:

"It's hard to imagine a teamwide protest, especially given that some Seahawks, such as quarterback Russell Wilson, have spoken against the anthem protest."

So Wilson does not deserve your hate.
