The two suspects are Oakland Raiders fans from New York
Two Raiders fans from the tri-state -- including one who is a firefighter -- were charged with assault after authorities said they critically injured a man at a Baltimore Ravens game over the weekend.
Susan Bauer told WBAL in Baltimore that her 55-year-old brother Joseph Bauer was attending the game with his wife Sunday when he got into an argument with a group of Raiders fans at M&T Bank Stadium.
Authorities said that the two attackers, 28-year-old Scott Smith and 31-year-old Andrew Nappi, got angry when the siblings let a woman go in front of them at a concssion stand.
""They started arguing with him and someone hit my brother in the head from behind," Bauer told WBAL. "He was immediately unconscious and hit the pavement."
She said her brother is on life support and cannot breathe on his own. But he was able to give doctors a thumbs up and could recover from his wounds.
Smith, a Mount Vernon firefighter, and Nappi, of Eastchester, were both charged with assault. Smith was suspended from the fire department indefinitely after the attack. It is unclear whether either man has an attorney, and attempts to contact Smith or Nappi at their homes were unsuccessful.
The Ravens said in a statement that their sympathies go out to Joseph Bauer and his family.
Misleading Headline makes it sound like the fight was about which team they root for
is on life support and cannot breathe on his own
Sounds like they need to seriously Upgrade the Charges, like Attempted Murder
I used to go to Raiders games when I lived there. Fans for other teams should be advised not to wear team shirts and keep their mouth shut.
Is something wrong with the discriptupion of the ‘root cause’?
A lot of missing data here. I’m guessing it was late in the game when the blood alcohol level is peaking. Reason #58 why going to an NFL game is a bad idea.
It appears obvious that we need to BAN FIREFIGHTERS from Sporting Events.
Going to a football game while being a white male in a major city... something I will no longer do. I want to enjoy another 20 years.
Sad to think he’s a fireman; he’s a responsible member of society, or you would think he is, based on having a decent job and all that.
I mention this because there is so much talk of how the youth gangs have adopted the Raiders as their team, and that there seems to be gang presence at Raiders games, both home and away.
Same is true in Philly.
The 2 attempted murderers are white.
>attempts to contact Smith or Nappi at their homes were unsuccessful
Hopefully it’s because the two scumbags are in jail without bail as they should be. Cold cocking a non-threat should get you life in prison.
I seldom attend NFL games. But have heard that the San Diego police double their presence at Qualcomm stadium when the Raiders play the Chargers. I’ve heard some players say they won’t let their families attend games against the Raiders due to the gang element which follows the Raiders.
I wonder how the youth gangs, who are allegedly poor and live in poverty and all that, can afford tickets to an NFL game. Topic for another day perhaps.
This game was in Baltimore. Of course, I wouldn't go to any NFL game today, as they're all in third-world sh**-hole areas.
or you would think he is,”
Unfortunately I am old enough to remember when we had Very High Standards to become Police or Fire. All of that ended in the early 70’s.
So I assume the Firefighter is just a Morally Bankrupt, Ethically Challenged asshole that is probably only truly qualified to sweep floors.
Yes I have a very Low Opinion of ALL Public Employees.
This happened in Baltimore. The Raiders were the visiting team.
A game like that, I remember the immortal words of Henry Kissinger regarding the Iran/Iraq war... “It’s a shame they can’t both lose”.

Have you checked your Hubcaps lately?? But in all fairness I believe the Stadium accepts EBT and Crack as payment also
A punch from behind ought to rate aggrivated assult.
So have all the news stories here in Maryland.
I had tickets to the game that I won in a raffle. Even though they were worth several hundred dollars, I don’t follow football and gave them to a friend.
Pathetic behavior that I hope ends up with decades in jail.
