Scientists: Climate change made Hurricane Matthew stronger

You can't blame climate change for creating Hurricane Matthew. But two Florida scientists say you can blame a warmer world for making the storm get so strong so fast.

Hurricanes and tropical storms gain their power from absorbing the heat of warm water. That's why hurricane season runs from June to November, when the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico are at their warmest.

This year, global temperature readings are setting new records every month, so that 2016 is on track to be the warmest year ever.

"Ocean temperatures are playing a big role in that," said David Zierden, Florida's state climatologist.

This summer, the waters around the Bahamas and off Florida's southeastern coast has been running at least 1 degree Celsius warmer than normal, he said.

If it wasn’t for climate change, the city I grew up in would still be under a mile of ice.

What caused the hurricanes during the 1950s to be so strong? The 1950s had the most hurricanes in recorded history.

But they never ever define what it is. Climate always changes!! Do they actually believe this hoax or not? Are they just liars trying to transfer wealth?

According to Algore, and the rest of the prognostication class of government supported weather Wizards, we should have all been dead by now and coastal areas under 10’ of water...

Weren’t they pitching the idea for a Class 6 hurricane at one point and that these would be much more common...

One of these days they make actually be right about something...

From what I understand, the hurricane was much less damaging and dangerous than predicted.

Just please get The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore out of Lumberton, N.C.

Seriously, he has been standing on the same street for 8 hours filming evacuees getting boat rides out of a motel.

Where is the coverage from other affected areas i.e. SC, GA and FL????

Prayers for the families of the 16 who lost their lives.

All weather abnormalities, even the slightest ones, are blamed on "global warming."

Therefore, the logical conclusion one must draw is that:
1. the 4,003 days since Wilma hit land in 2005 is an extreme abnormality.
2. Hurricane Matthew is a reversion to normal.

Yet, not one of the "professionals" has made this point. They immediately started fear-mongering over GW causing all sorts of bad weather events. They would never accept that GW may cause GOOD weather events.

He’s where he is for now. Not easy to get to the other places with flooding and storm damage right now. The flood waters from local rain will recede soon enough, but then comes the rivers and creeks cresting from rain upstream. There’s a reason most decent residential construction down there has a raised foundation. If they’re smart they’ll raise their parking areas too, to spare their vehicles. On the Outer Banks, at Ocracoke and Hatteras Village, locals will build makeshift ramps with planks and cinderblocks when a storm’s coming, to elevate their vehicles above the floodwater.

But they never ever define what it is.

Well, I'm no scientician like Algore, but it means, that the climate isn't really warming. But it isn't really cooling either. Instead, it seems to be locked in a region of dynamic stasis - meaning it switches back and forth in minute, yet predictable patterns which seem to follow larger solar activity and orbital cycles.

Isn’t AGW supposed to put more energy in the atmosphere and therefore hurricanes should be worse? Seems like this latest hurricane faded quickly once it reached Florida.

Climate change made Matthew stronger

Stronger than what?

Stronger than Galveston (1900)?
Stronger than the New England Hurricane of 1938?
Stronger than Carol (1954)?
Stronger than Donna (1960)?
Stronger than Camille (1969)?
Stronger than Hugo (1989)?
Stronger than Andrew (1992)?
Stronger than Katrina (2005)?

It's no wonder they don't teach anything in school anymore. Anyone with the slightest shred of historical knowledge could see through their lies in a second.
