French presidential candidate Nicolas Sarkozy has proposed that Europe apply a carbon tax on American imports if Donald Trump pulls the United States out of the Paris climate pact.
More than 100 countries have ratified the Paris global emissions deal, which was inked in December after marathon talks to cap greenhouse gases that cause global warming.
Donald Trump has said well see if he keeps this promise that he wont respect the conclusions of the Paris climate agreement, Sarkozy said late Sunday on the TF1 television channel.
Well, I will demand that Europe put in place a carbon tax at its border, a tax of 1-3 percent, for all products coming from the United States, if the United States doesnt apply environmental rules that we are imposing on our companies, he added.

Fine. We will return the favor....
Sorry, Nicky, we choose not to hobble our own economy with the hokey climate hustle.
OK. Let’s tax French goods twice as much. And any other EU jerks who put a carbon tax on us.
Fine. I’ll switch to tater tots and never have another French fry ever.
The U.S. should impose an idiot tax on imports from countries that support carbon taxes.
These idiots don’t understand the true AGW overhead on their economies.
Buy Dom now.
we can call it the eu socialist goods tax.
Good thing that French fries don’t really come from France anyhow.
Me too. And French dressing is right out!
We don’t need your stinkin’ vin and fromage, non?
Isn’t this how the Depression started in 1929?
Le Ha Ha!
Leave it to the French to threaten the US with funds. It’s like taking a knife to a gun fight.
Marine Le Pen will beat him badly in the next election!!!!
Guess your crap French wine and Airbus just got a lot more expensive in the USA.
Since I don’t drink overpriced foreign made wine, I could care less if France sells a single bottle in the US. I’ll taken US made plane over an Airbus.
Or Socialist Redistribution Tax.
Well Nic, if the UK doesn’t need you, what makes you think the USA does?
