First time for me at a family gathering where the host
(Liberal), as we were standing ready to eat, at the time
when always somebody would suggest someone lead a prayer, said:
"Each person please say your own thanks or prayer if you choose to yourself."
Anybody else? Is this Trump backlash?
Nope. Then again, no libs in my family.
Give thanks I am not in that family.
My guess is yeah sounds like Trump backlash or whatever but it kinda defeats the whole purpose of “THANKSGIVING” don’t it? Be blessed anyways...maybe this was just your familes Ebenezer Scrooge. You notice you dont see Ebenezer and Hillary at the same functions...just saying...
Nope, dinner at our house.
That would cause me to do a litany Out Loud!
I would have just left.
Isn’t that cranky? We did take a friend to our family gathering who had been UNinvited because she did a write-in. She did not even vote for Trump. We didn’t talk politics because WE WON.
No for me too. I just don’t have any friends, family or others that I would eat with that are liberals. None. If I did I couldn’t be in a room with them.
Allowed or not, my prayer would have been aloud.
I led the prayer for our family and friends -—— EVERYBODY joined in with gusto! I ended the prayer with: “may God protect our service members throughout the world. Amen”.
Sounds like the host at your family gathering needs prayer. I hope she or he is not in a position to influence any young people. Putting personal circumstances above God is not good.
Nope. Just your family.
Sir, I can’t even imagine such an insult! I enjoyed a wonderful meal only after an inspiring prayer and reading of the First Thanksgiving Proclamation!
I would have set my plate down, pushed my chair back, got up and departed. I won’t have everything I believe in mocked just to keep family peace. I couldn’t abide by those rules!
I’m sorry your day was marred by this incident!
Thank God I’ve never been to one of those prayerless thanksgivings.
That would be unthinkable down here in my part of the Ozarks.
My sister used to be kind of like that as she was going thru counseling. I think she was working on being her “authentic self” so she would grudgingly hands and had a semi angered expression on her face as we had prayer at family gatherings. If you tried to talk God outside of meal blessing, she would say “I’m not discussing that” and just stop the conversation cold.
Thank God she has softened some since a number of hardships have happened and I think she is some what back to belief in existence of God.
We gave thanks, to Our Heavenly Father, for the many blessings we’ve received....and the one liberal in attendance politely joined in.
Even I’m not degenerate enough to break bread with a leftist.
