Love the chorus!
“Father Christmas, give us some money
Don’t mess around with those silly toys.
We’ll beat you up if you don’t hand it over
We want your bread so don’t make us annoyed
Give all the toys to the little rich boys”

Sad indeed, entertainers are knights and soldiers are neglected or scorned. Wasnt that long ago entertainers were treated to there just deserves and soldiers and scholars were revered...

I love this one. I went to the Univ of London in the 1970’s and frequently went thru Waterloo Station. Hearing it now takes me back to those innocent times in London, listening to wonderful music, visiting Carnaby Street, and looking fine.

Well done, Sir Ray! My first rock concert was The Kinks at Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. Magic it was!

I saw them 3 times : once in Hartford , CT in 1972 outdoors at Dillon Stadium with Flo & Eddie , The Beach Boys and The Doors ; once at Nassau Coliseum in 1980 ; and the last time in Tokyo in 1992 when they sounded better than ever playing mostly post-80’s songs from their catalog . Oh - I’ve been to Muswell Hill several times . ^_^

August 7, 1979, in Buffalo - great show! Well represented by perhaps the greatest live album ever: Two for the Road.

They’ve always knighted many of their musical figures in classical music and Britain’s contribution to rock is way more important than their contribution to classical. It’s reasonable that they honor these talents in their late years.
