In a gas oven it is the broiler. Always has been
Oops didn’t mean left them there inside roaster, meant to say on countertop...whew!!
I use that to store a Roaster Rack, 1 Saute Pan and a large flat Grill inside the oven. When I need the oven, I just remove the items and return them back when I finish using it and the oven has cool down.
In fact, I have a broken large microwave to store my sugar, flour and other little thingys.
What you get from fast food places that have food prepared by ethnics that dislike crackers.
I always thought it was there to strip off toenails or break toes in order to get time off work.
REAL INFO!
Like the old Chiffon commercial...
“If you think it’s butter...but it’s snot.....It’s Chiffon!”
No problem here my wood burning stove doesn’t have an oven I haven to use a dutch oven.
Oh no! I kind of liked that little broiler. I had the opposite issue. Every oven after that, I thought was for broiling and wasn’t comfortable using it for storage. It took me many years to finally feel confident about using the drawer for storage.
Most of the newer gas ranges have a second burner at the top of the oven for broiling inside the oven.
True confession time:
Until very recently I never used the oven portion of the electric range - only the stovetop. But you can’t easily cook a frozen pizza on the stovetop. So I gave it a try.
I’m still a bit confused about how to use it because I don’t have an instruction manual. Yes, I was able to start it by pressing an oven temp button, and increased the set temp. using the up-arrow button, and successfully cooked the pizza.
But I haven’t figured out how to set it to broil (come to think of it, I haven’t actually checked to see if there’s a top heating element). More importantly, I’m not sure of the right way to turn the thing off.
There is an ‘oven stop’ button, but when I press that the only thing that seems to happen is some things blink on the display. So I press the ‘clear’ button, which seems to shut the thing off. But I can’t help thinking that I’m missing something that I ought to be doing to turn it off.
As far as the drawer at the bottom is concerned, I’m reasonably sure that it’s just a drawer.
Oh... we've been storing things down there.
On our brand-new gas range, we use the "clear" button to turn off the oven. That really is how you turn it off.
