Question for a GE Tech. We have 10 year old GE countertop microwave. My son bought an EM detector and the thing goes nuclear anywhere near the microwave.
Are there problems with microwaves leaking? it’s setting the detector off 3-4 feet away.
Doubtful that it is leaking. I tested hundreds of m/w’s and found one that was leaking. I expected to find it leaking as it had been dropped and the frame was so badly bent the door did not close properly.
GE microwaves in particular are manufactured to about 5 times minimum standards.
What kind of meter is it that you are using?
Cheap one
It probably is not set up to measure for radiation leakage which is measured in milliwatt/cm2.
It is probably just reacting to the electromagnetic field being generated by the rather sizable transformer used to power the magnetron (the part that emits the microwave energy).
Unless the door is damaged or the frame is bent, it is likely not leaking.
Proof that Yahoo is useless. Oh, gee. There is lower drawer on the oven? Golly. I am too dumb to read the directions from the unit. Thanks, Yahoo.
Similarly, Buzzfeed is useless. They ran a story about how we should fold the paper cone filters for coffee pots along the seams. Golly. Again, I am too dumb to read the filter box and understand the diagram. Thanks, Buzzfeed.
Useful web sites show how Christianity encourages people in Mexico, Iran and Nigeria to stay home and improve their communities. Thanks, Gatestone.
yep! so do i, and so does my momma... never heat the oven without emptying it first... :)
Bingo. All mine does is hold frying pans. No control for temps. That would be a high end stove, which I don’t need. A Microwave is for re-heating food. If you show up late, expect cold food and use the microwave to heat it. I set a time for when food will be on the table, if you’re late, don’t expect me to keep it warm, use the microwave and re-heat what you choose to eat.
Same goes for washers and dryers, I buy the plain ones, no fancy gadgets, washes just as clean. Traded out the supposedly energy efficient dishwasher in the 12 yr old house we bought with the old one from the old house, the HE took 1.5 hrs to get my dishes not so clean and was noisy. Old one 1 hr and was quite, got my dishes clean until the GOV took phosphates out of the dish soap. Use Vinegar to keep the nasty looking glass look off my glasses. I’m not paying for a fancy small bottle of stuff that only half works.
Learn something new everyday. I thought the bottom drawer in the stove was for storing your C-4.
5.56mm
Thanks. It’s probably just picking up the EMF from the transformer.
“ But what a great way to use all of that heat that goes into cooking your foodsnot”
YUM!
