Oh wow, sometime in the next 220,000 years this is likely going to happen to us. Holy smokes, good think I built that bunker in the back yard with its own magnetic field generator in it!

I've been reading about this quite a bit lately:

Couple of books: "The HAB Theory". It's a novel based on a work by Hugh Auchincloss Brown in a 1967 book titled "Cataclysms of the Earth". "Earth's Shifting Crust" by Charles Happgood is what I'm reading now.

The basic theory of these is that every so often the entire earth either tilts or the crust shifts and slides over the mantle. It's quite an elegant theory especially as proposed in the book by Happgood. I'm not convinced of the validity but it's an interesting thing to read, study and pray about.

Should everybody wang chung tonight?

As someone who leads a Bible class and happens to be studying the Book of Isaiah let’s remember. Chapters 24 - 27 form one continual poetic prophecy. Isaiah’s words could mean the destruction of Judah and Jerusalem or prophesy about the end of the world (Revelation). It could mean a physical destruction of their homeland or the world as a whole. Or, it can refer to their spiritual decay and the need for the coming Savior (Jesus Christ). Christ is mentioned over 20 times in the Book of Isaiah which is why I call this book (Isaiah) the mini Bible. I am not claiming to “know” all of this book nor Scripture. It seems the more I study/teach the less I realize how much I know the Sovereign God.

Nothing new. SAGA magazine was reporting this fifty years ago complete with an illustration of sky scrapers collapsing and general doom as the mantle of the earth slides around over the core before the new magnetic poles take effect. Who knows where we may end up! Maybe we will be the new Antarctic.

We all have to face eternity one way or another and the only way is to face eternity is to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, I very much agree.

But as far as threats to our life on earth, what is of most concern?
Heart disease, cancer, accidents, strokes, infections? A pole shift? Rising sea level from global warming?

I doubt anyone here is going to die as result of a pole shift. But if we did, what could we do to reduce the effects of a pole shift anyways. A pole shift tax?
