Walt Disney World is increasing single-day tickets at certain times of the year and setting expiration dates on tickets in hopes of preventing overcrowding during its parks' busiest times. Company officials said Saturday that single-day ticket prices are either staying the same, or are increasing no more than $5 under the new price structure for its Florida theme parks.

I am glad for the ticket increase.

It is basic supply & demand, and it helps keep out some of the riff raff.

I was there when Disneyland opened in Anaheim in 1955. I live in LA ... my hometown. i was 6 years old!!!

I seem to remember it was $20.00 but I’m sure you’re right.

Did you live in LA at the time?

I live in Jacksonville and keep talking about a day trip to Disney World for my family. The kids really want to go. A co-worker of mine went recently and talked abut 3 hour wait times in line for some of the rides.

This seemed absolutely crazy.

I don't know if it's true or not. I went to DW once as a 12-year old more than 30 years ago. But if I'm waiting in line for 3 hours, forget it. What's the point?

My one and only visit to Disney was at the original park. Yes, Pirates was my favorite. They had little lights mimicking fireflies and they even pumped in humid air so you’d get the real feel of standing on the shore of the Caribbean. That was in 1977 and ticket prices were way lot less.

Disney is anti-Christian. Christ mass is Christian.

“I seem to remember it was $20.00 but I’m sure you’re right.”

But do note that $20.00 in 1955 was equal to $180.00 in today’s dollars:

Park attendance is down overall, so let's raise prices.

Park attendance isn’t down. They are raising prices to keep the crowds down. The biggest complaint from people visiting Disney are crowds and long lines. The only way Disney can control this is to limit access through price controls.

Disney actually has a Christian music festival. At Epcot they have choirs and a candlelight reading of Luke usually every night from November to January, additionally, the fireworks during this time frame, has an additional display that celebrates Christmas. Thier parks and guest areas are all decorated as well as the castle.

I agree. It's hard to believe that 33 years ago a conference I attended in Anaheim rented all of Disneyland (for the evening). Not all attractions were open but the main ones were. You could stay on a single ride until 11 PM if you wanted to or go on all big rides multiple times.
