Koskonin taunted the Republicans when testifying under Obama. The fact that he is not facing charges suggests the Republicans are not serious.

You are right. He should be arrested with no bail awaiting his treason trial. And Lois too. And the IRS employees should have a choice of Talk or Prison.

We need to have something like a sales tax, so that the IRS loses its power to monitor and terrorize citizens. As a bonus, even illegals would pay.

The head of the IRS hasn’t even been fired.

Remember, the one who laughed at us basically, while pompously defying congress to do something about it.

You still need a tax collector. Who is it going to bee? A flat rate could get rid of most of them.>>> sales tax gets rid of all of them. no snoopin no personal reporting. no irs. sales tax collected at the states and transferred to the treasury. and then maybe no fed.

1. A ‘flat tax’ never stays ‘flat’.

2. It never stays flat because the 16th Amendment is a perpetual license for new Congress’s to rearrange at will.

3. A flat tax needs the 16th Amendment because it is an ‘income’ tax without apportionment.

4. Items 1, 2, 3 above form a vicious circle.

The way out of the income tax infinite loop is to abolish the income tax, impose a pre-1913 excise tax in the form of a consumption tax with a tax-free floor, and repeal the 16th.

Poor President Trump. He has so many enemies within to purge, you just can’t get it all done at once, and especially not with the GOP-e letting the commie RATS delay his cabinet and lower appointments.

Trump needs to beat on McConnell to accelerate, and the ridiculous Senate rules be damned. Get it done. Get Trump’s appointments done and let them clean house.

Not so much drain cleaner as what you drink for Colonoscopy prep. Fed Gov needs intestinal/rectal draining.

A national sales tax would only tax consumption, not income. IMO, that makes it inherently superior.

I lived in California, a state with very high state income tax rates and aggressive collection practices. Now I live in a state with no state income tax but a bit higher sales tax.

Guess which one I like better? You can control how much you pay in sales tax by managing your spending.

It was so worth moving, if for no other reason than to escape California’s Franchise Tax Board who think nothing of nailing you for make believe taxes. Once they decide you owe it, you’re screwed. Just like the IRS.

Have the states collect the taxes and send it to the Treasury department.

After the IRS is cleaned out I can write my Senator McCain again. Currently he uses the IRS as a hammer against conservatives so I can't write the RINO. Also my Communist Congressman is so radical I don't think he would hesitate to use the IRS against dissenters.

A liberal asked me "Well, if your taxes are good what does a politically motivated audit matter?" Well, an honest one wouldn't matter but if they are already doing it illegally for political reasons then I don't think it will be an honest audit.

Did you describe what several of the audited went through? The hundreds of irrelevant and inappropriate questions to be responded to under penalty of law? The requests for research? The frozen funds? The inability to collect funds while being audited?

Have the states collect the taxes and send it to the Treasury department.

Is it just that simple? I don’t know. Who’s going to do audits and investigate fraud? States don’t have the money to do that. They’d have to simplify taxes to a flat tax, which I agree with. But what about all the tax credits to people who pay no taxes? I don’t understand that at all. The working poor depend on those tax returns. ( I know -— if they saved that money each month, instead, they’d have the same amount. But they won’t)

When tax laws are written to obfuscate and confuse and play favorites, you are just asking for those charged with enforcing it to play political power games.

This whole Tea Party episode is just one more reason to simplify the tax code. Even if there is more than one bracket, we have to get rid of all deductions, exemptions, and credits. All of them. The mortgage interest deduction is a sacred cow that supposedly encourages home ownership. Except if you actually OWN YOUR HOME you get ZERO deduction — it’s only by OWING a BANK huge sums that you are “rewarded” with a reduction in taxes. Pay off your mortgage and you get ZIP tax benefit.

Likewise these “not-for-profit” and “non-profit” and “charitable” organizations give the IRS enormous power to dictate how they operate. Why ? To avoid a 10% tax on revenues ? They have to pay payroll taxes just like a business, so why not just bite the bullet, pay an income tax, and avoid government dictates ?

The Tax Revenue numbers for the first five months of the tax year were announced yesterday. The personal income tax collected works out to almost EXACTLY 10% of gross individual income. After all the gyrations of tax planning, deductions, child tax credits, IRAs, etc. a flat 10% income tax with none of those would have collected the same revenue. Or if we really MUST allow the poor to be subsidized by the wealthy, 5% on the first $25K, 10% on the next $100K, and 15% above $150K would also collect the same revenue. Either way, we need to take away the IRS power for discretionary enforcement and intentional confusion.

Federal agencies persecute citizens, judges make law, . . . and not a single impeachment.

It is a large part of the reason I didn’t vote in the congressional portion of the 2016 election. The purpose of congress is nothing more than the reelection of its members.
