This was not personal, I just figured people knew that Trump, as president in 2017, just like if Hillary had won, has no say in Comey's appointment.

I wish it were not so, and I sincerely hope the man becomes involved in a scandal that would mandate he resign. He's really awful.

Actually the president CAN fire the FBI director. Lookup William S Sessions. He was fired by Janet Reno at the behest of William Jefferson Clinton.

I’ve been on FR since 2001. Didn’t know FBI was a 10 year term until recently when it was explained to me. You’re not alone. And it should always be okay to ask. ;)
