President Trump will seek to put a spotlight on his vows to privatize the nation’s air traffic control system and spur $1 trillion in new investment in roads, waterways and other infrastructure with a weeklong series of events starting Monday at the White House.

The events — billed as “infrastructure week” — are part of a stepped-up effort since the president’s return a week ago from his first foreign trip to show that the White House remains focused on its agenda, despite cascading headlines about investigations into his administration’s ties to Russia.

The president has invited executives from major airlines to join him as he kicks off the week with one of his more controversial plans: spinning off the air traffic control functions of the Federal Aviation Administration to a nonprofit corporation. …

Infrastructure, yes. But privatizing air traffic control? Not convinced or ready for that.

This is good news. The more privatization the better.

Trump should NOT privatize air traffic control. Such moves in essential services regarding safety, communication and travel were one of Reagan’s few mistakes. But it was a huge one.

It’ll destroy them eventually. May seem like a long time coming, but when it comes, it will resound.

Canada’s ATC has been privatized for years (Nav Canada).

Not a problem.

Some of us with age....remember this Reagan episode in the 1980s. In today’s atmosphere, a weekend strike in just one single region would cripple the entire nation and bring back the entire Reagan solution once again....using the military until enough new controllers were hired.

Oh, yeah. It's so much safer having all the air traffic control being done by mentally ill Democrats.

Not reliable. So expensive need obamaphones
Unrelable. Sound not good. Phone differe,t from one another. Communication not as easy or reliable.

Slowed down commerce big time.

As one intimately familiar with aviation manufacturing anx the aviation industry the FAA is, in my experience, one of the only functional and important federal agencies. Most, if not all, are plucked from the industry.

Really? Canada’s controllers are private and toll roads are the best roads and make tons more money than they cost to build and maintain.

Any other stupid assertions you’d like to make, Einstein?

Because government entities are so much better and more efficient than private ones.......

If it involves the flow of commerce in and out of U.S. ports, without hindrance, constitutionally it remains under the control of the gov’t.
