Full Title.........................Trey Parker says South Park will ignore Trump because he just 'doesn't care' anymore - despite their 'crazy ratings'...................South Park star Trey Parker seems to be over creating jokes around the President of the United States, despite the 'crazy ratings'.
Parker, who voices four of South Park's main characters, said he and longtime collaborator Matt Stone, are fed up with the Donald Trump jokes.
'We fell into the same trap that Saturday Night Live fell into, where it was like, "Dude, we're just becoming CNN now. We're becoming: Tune in to see what we're going to say about Trump,"' Parker told the Los Angeles Times.

If he truly doesn’t care then why is he talking about not caring?

Smart lads.
We would love to see an episode where Liawatha, Mad Maxine and Chucky the clown stake Pelosi to an anthill.

Yup. These guys are a heck of a lot smarter than CNN. The game is over. Give it up. Trump just keeps winning. Find something else to focus on.

Could it be that Mr. Parker is a closet Trump supporter?

In past years, one of them has made a statement along the lines of “I hate Republicans - but I *REALLY* effing hate Democrats!”

This season I want to get back to ... the bread and butter of 'South Park': kids being kids and being ridiculous and outrageous Screw CNN. He's going home.

Overdoing the jokes makes for boring TV.
They hardly featured Bush or Obama that much.

And what's really telling is that South Park has made fun of just about every known racial, ethnic, religious, etc group known. Blacks Jews, Asians, gays, you name it. Other than an occasional critical reaction from the ADL or Bill Donahue from the Catholic League when they think South Park went over the line, the ONLY groups that reacted so belligerent, if not militantly to their ridicule are the Scientists (Tom Cruise refuses to come out of the closet ) and Islamists, the episode where Muhammad was depicted as a bear. This explains a lot.

Last season was so disjointed, so nonsensical with plot holes galore. I know a lot of it was because they make episodes 7-10 days before they air and trying to keep up with news and predicting a plot arc over the course of last year’s election cycle was improbable to impossible.
Politics shouldn’t be South Park.
South Park should be Terrence and Phillip, alien anal probes, cow jokes, underpants gnomes and not caring about the PC culture. What other show could do an episode of cripple fights, Cartman entering the Special Olympics or having Cesar Milano raising a child like a dog?
The last two seasons, Trump last year and PC Principal before that were awful. Just awful.

Absolutely. Their ratings would really spike then.
They made their mark slaughtering sacred cows and breaking taboo. No reason to quit now.

Good, make South Park great again and quit doing seasonal story arcs (and venture out of the Hollywood bubble every now and again).
