Never heard anything about flying saucers. The "saucer" incident took place in 1947.

Sorry to hear about your loss of Dad. That always leaves an irreplaceable hole in one’s life. My Dad left us about fifteen years, ago.
We just got back from visiting my Dad’s 97 year old brother. He was a mechanical engineer in training when he enlisted in the Army and they sent him to an unheard of place called Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He ran a shift at the plant separating uranium isotopes, creating the fissionable material for “Little Boy” that won the war. He later worked at Sandia on weapons. A couple years ago, before his sight and hearing left him, I asked him about machining tolerances for the bombs. He paused and, after a moment of thought, said “I can’t tell you that; it’s classified.” And it didn’t require a “(c)” in his memory to tell him that, either.

95 years, wow! My deepest condolences.

Thanks for telling us about your Dad. I lost my Dad in 2012. He was on Utah beach on DD+1, but almost didn’t make it. I have unreserved admiration for all soldiers past and present.

I’m so terribly sorry. It’s a hole in your family that will be so inadequately filled with memories. Thanks for telling us about him. He sounds like he was a good man.

Thank you for the thoughtful replies, however I didn’t originate the thread. It was a person with the screen name of slouper. I’m sure they would appreciate the thoughts.
