Why wasn’t the ship armed?

I’d pay good money for an awesome vacation like that! — said no one ever.

Better alternative: “ACTION STARBOARD - MOUNT WEAPONS & PREPARE TO REPEL BOARDERS!” Bet there’s few FReepers that would sign up for a fully-armed bait cruise...

Why wasn’t the ship armed?

Because the international class of people known as “lawyers” have determined the rights of pirates to not be innocently shot WILL either succeed in lawsuits against ANY private commercial shippers, or cost the shipping companies too much in legal fees to defend their actions to protect themselves and any passengers.

“1,900 passengers aboard a 104 day cruise around the world...”

I thought it only took 80 days...

A cruise ship is a nightmare for 3 days and without pirates.

There are a bunch of cruise ship companies that have a round-the-world route through that region. I wonder if they are all doing this, or did this one captain take extra measures?

They should have issued a gun to every passenger, and declared it a contest to see who gets the first pirate... free cruise for the winner!

Another in an ever growing list of reasons not to go on a cruise.

Ten days. One would think if they were that afraid, they’d boogie to the nearest safe port instead of bobbing out in the middle of nowhere without so much as a sling shot.

Muzzies win again. Humans bowing down to muzzies in abject submission. They won. We lost.

Hey! My father was on a cruise like that in the South Pacific in the early 40s.

Contrast this with the cruises that go into that area and all of the passengers are armed and waiting to knock off pirates. Which would be the most fun?

I think I see a business opportunity for the Russians here. Luxury pirate hunting cruises, lots of complimentary vodka and caviar.

Starting at $30,000 for one week with his and her Kalashnikovs, going up to $100,000 for a balcony suite with 60mm flack guns. First 100 rounds included in the fare.

Includes first class air fare to and from Odessa.

Bonus: If you capture any pirates alive, you get to keel-haul them.
