Chelsea Clinton really stepped in it on Saturday when she tweeted a Washington Post essay from someone who spent a year in Joe Arpaio’s infamous Maricopa County jail.
Only problem was, Clinton tweeted the story headline without quotes, making it read as if she was saying that she spent a year in Arpaio’s jail.
“The year I spent in Joe Arpaio’s tent jail was hell. He should never walk free,” the tweet said with a link to the Post essay.
The essay details the horrors that Francisco Chairez faced while he was in Arpaio’s jail for a drunk driving conviction.
“[In 2014], I got into a bad relationship and I drove while drunk. I was arrested, and it took the county an entire year to prosecute me. I thought it was the worst year of my life, until I was convicted and sent to one of Arpaio’s jails,” Chairez wrote.

It's way more than just that--many Democrats admit privately that Chelsea Clinton at times makes her mom look sane in comparison. No wonder why the Democrats want to disassociate with the Clintons during the 2020 Presidential elections.
All I can add to this is that if you where caught behind her in the queue for the Kebab Van, when she was at Oxford University, it was a nightmare.
Most people have decided on their order long before they arrive at the window....not her.
Then most of the menu needed explaining... Ugh!

What’s his rap sheet look like? Multiple DUI’s? Other criminal misdemeanors?
I imagine that most first time offenders are offered a plea deal and multiple offenses are punished harshly with no pleading down.
I think tent jails were ingenious, and I bet some in the government took notice and notes on the logistics and effectiveness.
Giving them time is better than giving 1 year probation and getting another dui.
Why is it that these people always preface their admissions with an excuse? Excuses are effortless for some people. They just spill off their tongues like warm butter. What is it that makes them always have an excuse for anything they do wrong? Why can’t they just say, “I got drunk and screwed up. Sure wish I hadn’t. It was stupid of me.”?

I know someone who does this and it makes me seethe with anger every time they do it.
Arpaio was one of the few who made the guilty face consequences for their actions.

For awhile, Maine would allow first time DUI offenders the choice of 48-72 in the pokey, or a weekend (maybe two?)working their butts off around a public building (school, etc). There's always stuff to be cleaned, swept, painted, etc.
Most Mainers took option #2. Made sense to me, most of them are young people who did something stupid and this was a good chance to make amends.
