A baby born earlier this month to a Michigan mother who died after she refused brain cancer treatment so her child could live, has also died, the family said on Thursday.
Life Lynn DeKlyen, who was born on Sept. 6 at 24 weeks, died overnight, the family posted on Facebook:
It is with great sadness and an absolutely broken heart that I tell you Life Lynn passed away last night. Carrie is now rocking her baby girl. I have no explanation of why this happened, but I do know Jesus loves us and someday we will know why. The grief we feel is almost unbearable, please be praying for our family.
The babys mother, Carrie DeKlyen, made national headlines when she found out earlier this year she was pregnant with her sixth child only weeks after she had been diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, an aggressively malignant brain tumor, according to MLive.com.
For DeKlyen to continue cancer treatment she had begun as part of a clinical trial, DeKlyen would have had to terminate her pregnancy.
She didnt want to do that, her sister-in-law told People, even though her husband, Nick, says her doctor told her she would die if she didnt receive immediate treatment.
Life Lynn was expected to remain in the intensive care unit for at least four months because she was not gaining weight as quickly as she should. On Sept. 18, the family said doctors found a small brain bleed that is sometimes found in 24-week babies.
A GoFundMe page for the family has raised over $150,000.
Really, was this the time or place for such negative comments about women ?? I have to wonder what kinda women you have been hanging out with.
The main post was about the death of a mother and her baby. She apparently left 6 children behind along with the rest of her family. That is TRAGIC.
Very,very sad.A truly brave woman!
Oh my, how sad.
And the pro-aborts will use this as a “told you so” argument.
Personally, I am grateful for the extraordinarily beautiful example of motherhood, love, and personal sacrifice. Based upon the information in this article this beautiful mother is enjoying a splendid new life with her Creator and child. Yes, one day we will understand more fully. Today, we should support her family in love and prayer.
5 kids without a mom.
There is an odd joy in this, knowing that a mother and the daughter for whom she sacrificed so much are reunited in Eternity.
It’s almost a microcosm of Christ’s sacrifice and Man’s redemption. And maybe that was the Almighty’s plan for these two splendid lives.
Prayers for this family.
No greater love....
The mom didn't have much of a chance either way. She had a very aggressive form a brain cancer with a very low chance of treatment success. Chemo would've likely bought her nothing more than a few painful months. Sad story all the way around.
Yes, and No.
Certainly they won't grow up with a Mom, but their family is clearly moral, and strong. Dad will run a tight ship.
But unlike some poor kid whose mother or father has abandoned them, and who feel cheated, unloved or inadequate because of that, these kids have a hero for a mother. They know she loved them and the sacrifice she will have made for them too. In that sense, she will always be there, as a role model, urging them on to goodness.
That is so sad for her family left behind. I also see it as a reward for her mom’s great sacrifice. That God would want them to be together sooner rather than later. It’s a mystery and He knows best.
She was an exceptional woman
Note word exceptional
What Wardaddy posits in his usual lack-of punctuation manner holds true:
The defects we ascribe to females are actually the defects we find in society overall, and women, as trendy followers of fads and public opinion, are oftentimes emblematic of the “convenience culture” we live in, which frankly, is a culture bent on suicide.
Don’t get me wrong. Men suck too.
In a real world such as mankind has lived in since our inception women are not as capable of survival as men
And it’s not because of strictly physical differences
“99 percent of my life despite all they bring to the table I find women very frustrating and difficult no matter how much I love and desire and cherish them”
That’s EXACTLY how I feel about men.
.
I am continually amazed at how you can make so much sense and yet never, ever use punctuation.
Like, for real: it’s the dot that goes at the end of sentence!
I thought you were a man all these years
A Jewish male
Color me a piss poor gender identifier
“I thought you were a man all these years

Interesting. I’m a shiksa !
