Absolutely no compromise or middle ground exists on this issue. You can NOT disrespect the anthem and the flag of a nation and the nation hold together. Such would NOT be tolerated in Mexico, by the way.

As far as I am concerned, it is already over.

These spoiled rotten, coddled-to millionaires playing a kids’ game have shit in their messkit. Now they can eat it.

I really hope the NFL goes under. There are so many better things Fathers can do with their kids on the weekends.

Kneeling for the National Anthem in London and standing for God Save the Queen was the last straw. Disrespecting our country on foreign soil goes beyond freedom of speech.

The NFL thinks they’re going to win this. The same way Hillary thought she was going to win...

I don’t see this a race issue. There were plenty of white players sitting also.

These are people that listen to cnn and msnbc.

They won’t get the message until they play a game with less than 10,000 fans in the stadium.

Which could happen at some stadiums next Sunday.

American football sucks anyway. Takes 3-4 hours to play 4 15 minute quarters. My husband and I watch soccer. The REAL football where 90 minutes of playing takes 90 minutes! None of those steroid enhanced American throwball players could run and keep up with any of those soccer men on the pitch. They’d fall dead of a heart attack before the half time.

If the sanctimonious NFL cares so much about free speech, why don’t they stand for Milo and his free speech rights being squashed in Berkeley?

Hmmmm, it must just be about them losing control of their players. I smell a rat with the NFL and the NFL Player’s Union. Trump knows something and he must be setting them up. The NFL is as corrupt as Congress. Ask Jessica Savitch...oh, you can’t, they found her dead in a ditch.

Unfortunately this crisis cannot be settled anytime soon. It can’t be resolved because there no longer exists a reasonable social consensus in this country that is based on commonly held cherished values. A significant minority of citizens has a palpable hatred for traditional values and have embraced a nep pagan epicurean, hedonistic lifestyle that mocks other Americans. The NFL , along with the Networks and advertisers are crass. foolish and care only on maintaining revenue streams. Hence they have chosen wrongly. They have ridiculed Tebow for kneeling in prayer and celebrated Kaepernick for disrespecting America. They honor a team like Pittsburg that except for a real man like Villanueva, sheepishly insults America. Given the addiction of American men to watch football, the NFL sadly will survive and keep making money. Simply underscores how divided and warped the country has become.

The point is that not very smart football jocks support the erroneous narrative made up by Black Lives Matter (BLM). BLM is a racist terrorist organization that promotes the killing of innocent police officers!

There is also NO facts that support BLM’s issue. Facts don’t support it! All based on a political narrative and misplaced emotionalism!

NFL is stupid to support baseless political issue of a racist terrorist organization like BLM!

Dumb jocks don’t realize they are killing the gravey train for the next generation of players!

Similar thoughts here recently, from different angle.

Ok, so the US has an imperfect record on race relations. (Overlooking all that has been done to correct it, like Abolition, MLK, legislating equality, affirmative action, interracial marriage normalization, black President, etc.)
Why keep drawing attention to the unchangeable past?
What is gained by relentlessly pointing at what’s been done?
What do they - game players who make millions - want done that will satisfy them?
They want divisiveness. They want a fight, have designated the line, and have no resolution of grievances.
Game on. Hostilities have commenced.

I have a suggestion for NFL players who are so offended by America’s National Anthem that they refuse to stand for it: they are more then welcome to stand for the Liberia’s national anthem and play for the Liberian National Football League instead. Though they’ll probably have to learn to be soccer players to do that and take a big pay cut, but hey, at least they won’t be surrounded by “white racists”.

The NFL is doomed anyway. Football is. Look at the demographic. Kids today play video games. Not football. In 20 years they will be begging for people to show up. Football is boring anyway.

Militant normality is growing as normals awaken to the indisputable truth of our enemy’s implacable hatred for us and everything we hold dear – like America. The sight of moron sportsball players disrespecting normals warms libs’ frigid little hearts – and make no mistake, that diss is aimed straight at us, not at some musical number. All these cultural aggressions are aimed at us, from demanding you obey their pronoun proclamations to requiring your daughter share a toilet with a dude in a skirt. This is how they seek to break us.

Read this post. It explains the broader, very dangerous issue at stake.

It’s already over, you are just behind the curve. The NFL is soon to be a thing of the past. Oh it will still be around but much smaller and less profitable.

All NFL players had better stand with hands over your hearts next Sunday, or it's over.

The Damage to the NFL has not hardly started and may be generational.

I am for everyone at a public event, showing respect for the Flag and National Anthem. I am also for each team's players showing patriotic respect by standing shoulder to shoulder on the sidelines at uniformed attention while the National Anthem is being played or performed. Even if someone on the team is having problems with our government, do the same as the rest of the team on this issue and any issue on or along the field of play. Look what it did to the 49'ers... Yesterday I was looking this over

"UNITED STATES CODE TITLE 18 Part I. CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE CHAPTER 33 - EMBLEMS, INSIGNIA, AND NAMES THIS TITLE WAS ENACTED BY ACT JUNE 25, 1948, CH. 645, SEC. 1, 62 STAT. 683 § 700. Desecration of the flag of the United States; penalties (a)(1) Whoever knowingly mutilates, defaces, physically defiles, burns, maintains on the floor or ground, or tramples upon any flag of the United States shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than one year, or both. (2) This subsection does not prohibit any conduct consisting of the disposal of a flag when it has become worn or soiled. (b) As used in this section, the term 'flag of the United States' means any flag of the United States, or any part thereof, made of any substance, of any size, in a form that is commonly displayed. (c) Nothing in this section shall be construed as indicating an intent on the part of Congress to deprive any State, territory, possession, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico of jurisdiction over any offense over which it would have jurisdiction in the absence of this section. (d)(1) An appeal may be taken directly to the Supreme Court of the United States from any interlocutory or final judgment, decree, or order issued by a United States district court ruling upon the constitutionality of subsection (a). (2) The Supreme Court shall, if it has not previously ruled on the question, accept jurisdiction over the appeal and advance on the docket and expedite to the greatest extent possible. "

Although there are penalties listed for desecrating The Flag, I couldn't find any penalties for disrespect. Plenty of instruction on how to act, but nothing on whether or not it's a crime if you don't do it. With the free speech of those with lack of respect comes free speech of those who are offended. It starts to feel like your part of a dog chasing it's tail...
