As an Alaskan, having driven through British Columbia and the prarie provinces to the “lower 48” numerous times, I can tell you that western Canada, more particularly the prarie provinces, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, depise Trudeau.
It is a mistake to judge the entire country of Canada by Trudeau, as it was for Canada to judge the US by Obama.
Yes, except Trudeau is the new normal. Canadians have given up on conservatism. We don’t have a single, not a one, conservative newspaper. No conservative news channels. And only a handful of “conservative” think tanks. They don’t even call themselves or stump for conservatism, they just lead their own agenda like the Canadian Taxpayer Federation and the Fraser Institute.
Even what I once though of a conservative province, Alberta, has turned socialist. (or maybe at heart it always was)
The only real exception is the populist government of Brad Wall in Saskatchewan - but we are only talking a million people there.
