Does this qualify as redneck “fun”? Killing birds which have been bred to be top heavy and not to fly by dropping them from planes? Absolutely degenerate.

Extra bonus points if you drop them into the fryer.

This is a case point in what is wrong in much of the world.
An area that has a tradition that people in the rest of the country find appalling so they bitch and moan about it.
People kill babies at the drop of a hat, but drop a turkey from a plane and it should be a felony!

An old Myron Cohen routine had a guy showing off his bee collection. The bees were kept in Mason jars.
A visitor said, “I notice you don’t punch any air holes in the lids.”
“So?”
“So if the bees can’t breathe, they’ll die.”
“So what? It’s only a hobby!”

This sort of thing would never happen in my adopted hometown of Toadsuck, Arkansas.

If you are good at it...you can catch a wild turkey.
Mrs Spokeshave has the secret...caught a couple a year or so ago.

I had not ever heard of this Arkansas turkey drop, but wildlife officials in states with low wild turkey populations have released wild turkeys from aircraft for decades. . . with good results - with a lot of planning.
The turkeys wouldn’t have to fly - just glide. Whether a domestic turkey could do it routinely . . . I don’t know. The bird might need to go to flight school.
