The managers of a Whataburger location in Denison, Texas, have fired an employee Saturday after she refused to serve two police officers. The Dallas Morning News reports that the female employee claimed the reason she refused to serve the officers was because Denison police officers allegedly beat up her boyfriend.
Denison Police Chief Jay Burch wrote in a Facebook post that these allegations were untrue and that no one was injured while they were carrying out a routine arrest.
The female employee reportedly swore at the officers while the on-duty manager told the officers, I dont get into politics, according to the post.
I guarantee you when they call 911 and need us, well come running, Chief Burchs post said. Thats what cops do.
Although Burch did not identify the restaurant, another Denison officer pointed out that the incident took place at the citys Whataburger, according to the Dallas Morning News.

It’s fairly likely that only a couple people there have the authority to fire people.
Whataburger fires Whatamoron.
Good for Whataburger... Great company - great burgers...
Perhaps they should have also fired the on-duty manager.
Not good enough. The on-duty manager MUST be fired, too.
Yes, I agree. How come we hear nothing from him or about him. He protected the errant employee. He should be gone.
I agree but you know there are laws against throwing a piece of PAPER out your window running down the highway and those laws CAN get you jail time.
I think a couple days in jail for someone whose mind is so F’d up SHOULD be in the statutes as well.
They don’t have to make the law specific to cops just make it general to the whole population i.e. “IF A RESTAURANT EMPLOYEE REFUSES TO SERVE ANYONE, OR TAMPERS WITH THEIR FOOD, ITS AN AUTOMATIC JAIL SENTENCE”.
I never ceased to be amazed that the owners of so many fast food establishments invest millions in them and then hire idiots to operate them.
From reading the police statement and others the manager needs to be fired too.
Yes indeed. The police chief was appalled that the manager called the matter “politics”, and I don’t blame him. The manager, Angela, claims it is not her job to fire people. But I’m sure she can send someone home for misconduct and apologize to the police. Nope, she needs to be fired.
