Four men who decided that a live crocodile trap seemed like a good place to go swimming have been dubbed “idiots of the century” after a photo of their antics went viral.

I dunno...there's some pretty stiff recent competition for that title. :)

The four Aussies (yes, they were Australian, which might explain a little) were shown in a photo swimming around in a baited crocodile trap...

They turned an ordinary bait trap into a buffet.

Well, Darwin is a city in Australia.

And the theory of evolution operates in reverse south of the Equator.

Isn’t live bait better for crocs anyway? Pretty brave of them to volunteer, I’d say. :=)

Yes, extinction is likely — at least of these four Aussies.

I grew up in my Jr High and High School years living on a large lake in central Florida. There were many alligators. We had one in the front yard and our next door neighbors had a large one under their car in their garage.

A friend of mine, I will call him Mountainclmbr, and some of his friends would go out in the lake at night in a boat with a spot light and there was competition about who could control the largest alligator. With the spotlight you can see their eyes and they are blinded. When you get close (I am told) if you cast a shadow they will see you and who knows what they will do. But, if you are quiet and they stay blinded you can lean over the front of the boat and grab them around the snout. They have muscles to chomp down, but not to open their mouths so you can hold their mouth shut. The trick (I am told) is that they will try to spin and claw you with their front feet. If you overestimated what you can hold on to you may only be counting to five without removing your shoes.

I think the person I am referring to never tried one over 7 ft and can still count to 10.

This person asks that no one asks questions about rattlesnakes.
